Haven't been keeping up with the SoS series since Trio of Towns, but the latest one definitely looks interesting.

I'm more hyped for the new Rune Factory games though.

Project Dragon looks to be more combat focused, with the farming looking like the system in Tides.

No details for RF6, but hopefully they learned a lot from the flaws of RF5.

ya, RF4 is almost the perfect game but RF5 is trash (at least at the start... so I quit)

they need to just not develop for, and release only on, the fucking nintendo switch.

that's the main major issue with rf5, it's a fucking slog to play because it's so fucking slow on hardware they obviously do not know how to develop for.

RF5 felt like somebody tried to make a cheap 3D clone of RF4. There was a ton of recycled mechanics and designs, populating a world that felt like it was cobbled-together with premade assets, ran very poorly, and had none of the depth and charm that made RF4 one of my favourite games ever. I had enough fun with it that I don't regret playing it, but I dropped it pretty much as soon as I finished the main story and the postgame content, relationships, and long-term farm management failed to hook me in. The pacing was super weird, too, given that I dropped it around Summer 10 of the first year (beat the final boss on like Summer 6 or 7).

It's a lot more than that. The performance is inexcusably bad, certainly, but it's far from unplayable and the game's issues go well beyond a few stutters and annoying load times.

I need to get back into RF4. Only one I played.

Beat most of the game. Couldn't get my romance scenes with my elf girl to appear and got frustrated. :(

It is, "Harvest Moon" is the english name that got gobbled up by the english publisher at some point. They've been milking it with terrible games. In JP its always been Bokujo Monogatari

Did you play RF4 Special, the recent-ish remaster? Makes a lot of event triggers happen faster. You still need to randomly see prerequisite events, but marriage-enabling events (and one certain plot event later in the story) happen asap afterwards

There's a way to cheese a specific event without inflating playtime if you wanna save and reload for like max 30 minutes, events start on certain set in stone days so keep multiple saves to figure out a day that an event starts, invite involved characters to your party, save, and load->sleep until both leave your party the next day. Check if the event started

I ended up doing this for Memories. I intended to do it legit and waited a couple in-game months before doing so, but when I got the Shiny Memories event and suffered the immediate disappointment that came upon realizing that's distinct from Memories, I decided I was owed my Act 3. It only took like 3 resets, which wasn't bad.

They should have just made two different versions.
