That was probably from the story directly after the end of Civil War

Peter had just revealed his identity during Civil War. Took his mask off on live TV. For some reason at the time, Peter, MJ and May were staying in a motel at the time. Kingpin sends a sniper to kill Peter. But May gets shot instead. Kingpin is in prison already but had sent the hit from there. Peter goes to the prison without even putting on a costume and confronts Kingpin inside. He tells Kingpin he won't hold back anyway and then proceeds to beat the shit out of him in front of the entire prison population

Marvel has been tormenting him for years don't expect much from the new game either.

This is from the current storyline, right? I know the Paul and MJ thing has taken up a lot of focus (as well as Ms Marvel), but I remember people complaining that Peter is just written as weak and incompetent throughout.
