there's some great angular string moments in this

I normally like sakimoto for more serious energy but even his cute stuff has exactly what I love about his composition style. every new string chord is not what I expect the next one to be but the melody threads them together so well

something about the feeling of mili stuff is just nice

Apollo was one of the rhythm game new discoveries this year to click with me most, which means something since there were A Lot of them. I love the passages like around ~1:00 where it's really hammering the mathematical feeling of odd time stuff. it has such a stylish presentation overall

Amazon kinda feels like a below average DKC song. Which isn't a bad thing. Hex, on the other hand is my bracket champion! Alice Schach so good when they're in the groove.

Hourai High's solid enough. Makes for fun BGM. When Layton songs hit they're really great. Wouldn't say this is quite top tier, but it is very good.

I like Mili almost as much as Alice Schach, but they're a lot more consistent. Very good song right here. Apollo's enjoyable too, though it doesn't do it for me as much as most of these. Good day.

i didn't know alice schach did stuff for rhythm games lmao, i had listened to one of their albums before and loved it so this is really cool, didnt particularly care for the ducktals song tho
dungeon was kinda cool but last specter's theme was just SO GOOD and i had to choose it
between two worlds was awesome and i feel like could be super climactic but apollo is more my kinda thing, both were amazing tho

Another day of forgetting to do writeups. Oop. But I remember some of my thoughts at least.

The vocal work in both Alice Schach and Mili songs can be hit or miss, but, even though I voted against Pygmalion, both actually worked for me this time? I'm definitely feeling Between Two Worlds stronger in this hypothetical matchup, being one of my supports in the noms phase. Wow I was not expecting to be so jazzed up by it, especially with my aggressive indifference to In Hell We Live ... Amazon and Specter are both classics in my book, but I liked Dungeon and Apollo well enough too.

Oh look its Hex, another one of my retiree predictions. I put a lot of faith in rhythm game songs this year and so far Ive liked most of them, but coming out of B3 Misogi and Into the Storm didnt advance like I was hoping. Maybe this one will? Who knows. Not me.

Some of the transitions in Apollo are so abrupt its like switching between completely different songs, which makes it hard for me to get into it. On the other hand the escalation from 1:19-2:14 flows so well I almost dont notice how much its transformed by the end.

It wouldve been amazon if Scream had won, but you cant always hexpect things to go your way.
