Yup. Henry Miller just thought it made the nightmare cooler. Woody Allen says its even in hell because it fucks up the ozone.

glad I live somewhere where that's unnecessary

heating is more the thing, but I got used to keeping it at 16.5c (~62f) so not the worst. my other friend keeps hers at 23c (75f) and her bills are terrible lol...

but yeah. the effect on the climate isn't great but people would die of heat stroke without it in certain places..

Technically impacts you as well since modern heat solutions are air conditioners with reversing valves (heat pumps).

idk how modern heating is here in Scotland lol

it's gas I believe, wall radiator units I can control per room. there's no a/c, I don't have central heating.

but I keep it low for cost

not on at all since it's warmer obvs

Id say indoor plumbing is the greatest

AC makes things more livable, but plumbing and access to water is way more important and cleanly

I would imagine they will get replaced eventually since the push is to do away with gas entirely, due to the environmental impact. Not sure if it will be soon since I don't know Scotland, but here at least I won't be able to buy a gas heating system after 2035.

Edit: There are also duct-less heat pumps that can replace radiators: https://www.energy.gov/energysaver/ductless-mini-split-heat-pumps

yeah it looks like there's push to renovate homes with better options but it's off to a slow start. I'm just renting right now so
