Some folks on Reddit are saying the cuts to programs are minor or that they actually expand coverage, but plenty of people who allegedly receive these benefits say they will hurt tons of people. I do realize that a default would cause economic catastrophe, but pass a less than completely evil bill is not a victory. Ultimately, the wealth donors won't allow the economy to completely fail, so I feel like Biden could push much harder for a clean debt ceiling bill (as it is, for all the "compromises", Democrats had to hard carry the bill in the House anyway).

And even those cuts aren't enough because they still want to go after Social Security because reasons. The hell does the military need more money than when we were fighting a war (and if you look it up, funding for Ukraine is only a small part of it)? How about those tax cuts for the wealthy that they never needed? I don't get the affected programs myself, but I've known people who do, and the programs are humiliating, dehumanizing, underfunded, and burdensome for families. Food prices continue to skyrocket and housing is awful. There is enough suffering to go around---we don't need more.

Pretty sure passing in the house was the harder step.

They need to update the classic phrase.

The only certain things in life are death, taxes, and the poor getting fucked.

Take every opportunity to remind them that a black man was president for 8 years and was far better than either of their recent gods.
