Bernie's been pretty consistent about not compromising on important issues even if they're attached to must pass legislation.

He usually tries to have them amended later to fix the problems too.

Should that have come to pass, it would be the fault of those who refused to raise the debt limit without a bunch of strings attached, the people who elected Bernie elected him knowing full well he doesn't compromise with terrorists.

Although personally kind of glad there were enough people willing to compromise on this. I'm not american so the programs getting slashed doesn't affect me, but the whole world would suffer if the US defaulted.

You're not in on some well kept secret about how congress works. We're all well aware it wouldn't have had time to be renegotiated, because the entire point was to bring it to the very edge so everyone could get their pet projects in to take home and brag to their state about.

If the vote had failed, that wouldn't have been Bernie's fault. It would be the fault of everyone that held it hostage to get theirs.
