having lebron below 3rd at the absolute lowest is generational-level hater stuff

-Fishers shot caused a rule change because it was physically impossible.

-Manu foul on Dirk in game 7.

-Ray Allen 3.

I'll give you the Ray Allen shot but those other two happened in the second round (and the Fisher shot was in Game 5). You can't be one play away from a ring in the second round. They would have had to win two more whole series!

and the Lakers and Mavs didn't even go on to win the Finals!

And you can take away two rings for the Horry shot in 2005 and Suns suspensions in 2007 by that logic

Nah, we earned the Horry shot because Rasheed Wallace played awful defense on that play, it wasn't a miracle shot like the Ray Allen shot

Also if we can't claim championships off of a second round series you can't take them away on a second round series especially considering Stoudemire played in the elimination game and the Suns sucked

Take the ring away from the 2002 Lakers because the Kings series was literally rigged

Eh, even then, it still took a crazy sequence of events for Allen to get in a position to take the shot at all, much less make it

Horry just hit a wide open 3 because Sheed blew his assignment

hmm, that must be what i'm thinking of.

it feels like no one has ever done it before. seems highly unlikely that any player would willingly drop tens of millions of dollars just to save their owner a buck (i think suns are so far deep above the salary cap it wouldn't even open up roster flexibility). the purpose of waiving players is supposed to be so that both parties can be separated from a contract they don't like. so this would feel counter to that
Zach lowe's pod laid it out today, and it is confirmed they could waive him, pay him $15M, then re-sign him. Lowe himself was with you that he felt it shouldn't be allowed lol.

Oh I'm not as absolutist about it as Ulti (except the Ray Allen shot, that's clearly a case of "if he doesn't make it, Spurs win the title," obviously. But I don't know if the 2014 Spurs happen without that pain, and that's one of my favorite teams of all-time in any sport).

I think of it as more of a tier of player and include Jokic and Giannis. If the refs buy Embiids flopping then he is at that level as well.

I think embiid is legitimately talented enough to be in that tier it's just his availability is a point against him most of the time.

I think giannis and jokic are different molds of player. Giannis is more direct and physical, while jokic is more finesse. I just think jokic can do more than giannis.
