GB/C:
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble
Blaster Master: Enemy Below

SNES:
Harvest Moon

NES:
Mystery Tower

Neat that I'll finally get to play Tilt n Tumble after all these years, and I'm absolutely stunned that the original Harvest Moon is coming given the current licensing disputes surrounding the franchise and the use of its title. I'll take it. Hoping to hear some expansion pass news this month.

Oh, and they're available now. Awesome!

I wonder if TnT controls better when emulated. I assume it uses the sensor in the controller, right?
Edit: Yes it does use that. And well, still about what you'd expect from non-analog motion controls.

I'm beginning to think that was a tad overblown. I suppose we were going by the Japanese NSO getting Harvest Moon 64 while we didn't, but I don't believe the releases on the classic game services have always matched up anyways. But at least this raises the chance that we'll be seeing HM64 some day.

I remember Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble being frustrating at times on GBC, but it was still fun to play. Maybe with better lighting, a bigger screen, and possibly better controls, it'll be a much better experience.

It can't be better than GBC because the game was specifically designed to be controlled on a screen being held in your hands. Kirby represents a marble sitting on the top of your screen and the physics are made to move him accordingly based on how it would look irl. Those movements don't translate the same when the screen stays static as you tilt.

At most, it can be better than any unofficial emulation of the game.

If you play it in the Switch's handheld mode shouldn't that do the trick?

Hmm, maybe. I didn't consider that option. That could enhance the experience.

You say but the speedrun strat for Tilt 'n' Tumble has been to play it on a Game Boy Player.

Which yes, involves holding up and moving an actual GameCube.

Yes, I'm aware of different methods that people use to play the game. It functionally works on a technical level, just like playing it with a motion-sensing joycon does. I'm talking about fully immersing yourself in the (intended) casual experience of playing the game. This game was designed with a specific theme in mind that sets it apart from the countless other marble-rolling games, and I'm saying that playing on a separate screen loses some of the game's natural appeal. Or rather, people who have never played it on a Game Boy Color have never truly gotten the full experience that players in 2001 did.

(Which is why playing in Switch handheld mode might be the best possible way to play the game short of buying an original cartridge)

Also, people always fail to realize that the only reason that the speedrun is done on Gamecube is to be able to record the footage. There's no way to record a GBC screen (short of complicated and expensive hardware mods). If you could easily record directly from a GBC then that would be the superior way to speedrun the game too.

I remember there was a pic in Nintendo Power's reader letters section from someone who build a Game Cube right into a desk, and I can't remember if it was NP's joke or my brother and I joking about it, but somehow it got brought up, imagine playing Kirby Tilt n Tumble via Game Boy Player on there.

I get what you're saying, but the first thing that comes to my mind is that it sounds annoying to play with that orientation!

I already have the original cartridge, so I dont see a need to play Kirby Tilt n Tumble on the Switch. This does however make me hopeful that they might add WarioWare: Twisted! one day.

Here's a video about the differences in the tilt sensors between the GBC cartridge and Switch controllers.

I'll admit that I haven't yet watched the video at the time of this post, but I'm pretty sure that this relates to what I was talking about earlier.

It looks pretty faithful in the handheld mode. Just less responsive because the degree of movement is bigger.
