There aren't really any fantasy races that don't have a version out there somewhere I don't like, so I don't think I'm terrible on that front. I am sort of a kobold supremacist though. Draconic, lizard, dog, I don't care, they are all adorable and amazing. I'm also a big fan of catgirls and dark elves for the obvious reason (their advanced cultural achievements).

i'm not a huge fan of orcs but that's more of a not liking barbarian type characters much. warcraft (i have 3 in mind, i really liked that one hero with the sword) does orcs in a way i like. i am also not big on smaller races like halfling, lala, some goblins, some elves. the exception is moogles kupo. i usually make my characters as short as possible though, i guess, which is an irony. this isn't an issue in imagination related stuff but i don't like being half the height or less of everyone in video games.

i also tend to not like it when one race is ridiculously out of place. if there are only a few races it's fine but if there are a handful that all look mostly similar then one that is way different idk.

I think this is kind of from an oversaturation of high fantasy Tolkeinesque type shit, because elves can be really interesting, especially if their more fey-like attributes are emphasized.

In 3.5 Edition DnD, I always had to choose a human. Not because I'm in love with playing a human, but because there was no way I was going to ditch that extra feat. I think that probably created a generation of lazy RPers.

Any undead faction. You died, move on, literally.

Orks are awesome and fun though and need more dakka. Less a fan of the ones that aren't forty thousand years in the future though, but it does depend a fair bit on the setting. edit: they are usually bad or feral in most anime fantasy settings though, for the latter sometimes to the point where hunting them for food is even a thing. Orcs tend to be... very varied in sophistication, and Japanese style orcs are often very pig-like.

Same with goblins for that last part. Worst things ever in a setting like, say, Goblin Slayer, but if you are just following along with a Critical Role campaign or are watching an anime like Reincarnated As A Slime, you will end up being just fine with them.

Humans though, they are pretty much okay at best. And in many settings they tend to be filled with the negatives that real humans have, with it more being that there are a few good ones but most of them are jerks, and the slaver nations are almost always run by humans, any evil churches are almost always run by humans, the evil guy who screwed over everyone with magic rings is a human, etc.

So overall, in a fantasy setting, I am most racist against humans. They are better than undead though.

Whenever I play an Elder Scrolls game I usually main Argonian or Khajiit, so I'm an anti-racist even by Elder Scrolls lore standards lol.

Having said that, the Dwemer in that universe seem like reprehensible sacks of shit and I'm glad their civilization was demolished, they fucking deserved it after what they did in Skyrim to the Snow Elves, betraying them and turning them into Falmer.

I think that derived in part from 3rd having so many feat taxes. I was bad about it too. But PF giving more feats, 4th giving more feats, 5th removing the need for feats I find myself playing nonhuman more often.

I'll always say that Khajiit is the best playable race in Skyrim just because having night vision on a toggle is absolutely fucking incredible in a game where you're spending a lot of time sneaking around dark caves.

I don't think I'll ever play Skyrim as anything else, honestly.

Pathfinder 2nd Edition basically just gives every race their own special feat list, which is in my opinion the best way to do it. I'd always play a human in DnD 3.5, but I'll never play one in Pathfinder 2nd Edition.

Yeah the Night Vision is really handy and so is the Argonian waterbreathing because if you run into a tough situation you can just dive into a deep body of water, they also have immunity to disease and resist poison (or maybe it's the other way around), but even in Morrowind I enjoyed the play style of running around freeing slaves and being part of some resistance, killing Dunmer enslavers when given the chance. Shame they couldn't wear any form of shoes cause that era was so racist they didn't even make shoes that would fit them.

Humans in P2E are fantastic because you can swap your level one ancestry feat for a second class feat, which opens you up to a lot of options and interesting builds. Especially for spellcasters, which tend to have their level one class feat decided for them, or for monks, which would otherwise have to choose between multiple fighting styles, weapons, or ki attacks rather than mixing it up.

P2E makes playing as a human far more appealing than D&D 5e does imo

It depends on whether you are the kind of person who likes to go tall with your builds (IE, specializing further and further into one particular class), or someone who likes to go wide, picking up an assortment of skills so you have a tool for every scenario (Which tends to be more useful in actual roleplaying than in dnd computer games). I'm the type who will be a Fighter/Mage/Thief or something similar if they can.

I still play a lot of humans, largely if I don't have an internal reason as to why the character would be anything else but removing feat reliance has allowed me to spread out. Currently have a tiefling kobold abysal sorc ready for a PF2 game.

The thing is, that isn't really their fault. They use moon sugar to flavor their foods, it doesn't have the same effect on them that it does on everyone else lore-wise as they have a much higher tolerance to it. It would be like if the world was full of races other than humans to which caffeine is the equivalent of heroin.

Yes, while that's true, I seem to recall specifically there are merchants who deny being dealers and then when you check their inventory they have moon sugar/skooma. I think it's one of the Skyrim traveling merchants who acts all indignant when explaining they're not allowed in the cities because of the accusations against their race, then his inventory just totally justifies the accusations.

And unfortunately I did the race no favors in reputation because I'm a very opportunist player, so I'm the kind of person who will help someone with a side quest, receive my reward, and then rob them of all valuables (or everything if it's early enough & I'm broke enough) when they go to sleep.

It's also how I play Fallout, so definitely not race-specific.

Funny thing is this will be the first iteration of the character as a kobold. He's usually just a tiefling but I liked abysal blood more than dragon so I wanted some dragon in there and kobolds had stats I was looking for and were allowed.

First iteration was dragon/abysal crossblood.
