The Answer is easy to fix, just cutting it is the decision of cowards.

Yeah just either do away with the awful no compendium gimmick or make the gimmick actually interesting somehow (something like you can only get a unique Persona once, for instance, might be fun- eliminates the grinding for multiple copies which was the main gameplay problem).

I remember doing like 5 floors of the answers and then giving up.

The Answer kind of presents a problem with the FeMC in that, I don't really think they're compatible with each other without some rewrites (i.e. Shinji's new scenes, the party is much friendlier with each other in FeMC's story so The Answer's conflict makes less sense) but I don't really think that's a deal breaker for including both anyways...

I wonder how much work it actually is to include the female protagonist. I cant believe that its any serious work at all to add the extra S-links and character models. In-game cutscenes and voice work has to be trivial, too. This isnt like P5, where youd have to rewrite chunks of the story, so the only big ask I can think of is redrawing animated cutscenes, right?

Animated cutscenes seem to be replaced with in-engine cutscenes in this version too.

I think the biggest issue is the models for the FeMC and whatever new S. Link characters she brings with her. I doubt the S. Links will be anything more than copy-pasted from the original, so all the writing is done. Unless they're voicing all of the S. Links this time, there's very minimal voice work to be done too. Honestly, there would probably be more voicework done having to record certain lines twice with different pronouns than anything regarding the S. Links.

Decided to play P3P again via the HD release anyways because fuck it, I already bought it.

It truly is amazing how bad a of a job they did. I think manually upscaling the PSP version in an enulator might really look better?

Also I just got to the first Thanatos scene and from this alone I don't know how anyone can say that there wasn't a loss of atmosphere and presentation from FES. On PS2 that was a deeply chilling and gripping scene. Here it looms like someone making a machinima recreation for YouTube.

some cliff notes here:

• no fatigue/tired
• characters have "individual persona elements" which I don't really know what that means
• all social link events are fully voiced (which seems like even more than what P5 did but whatevs)
• there are new "side stories" that compensate for the lack of male social links and to ensure their stories are told (so it looks like some P3P stuff will be in there after all?)
• tartarus has breakable objects and unique dialogue
• no "actual dungeons" like in persona 5

Cool. Either go full text or full voice, none of the "some of the levels are voiced" bullshit. Either that or have a toggle menu for that sort of thing. The more voice acted stuff, the easier. There may be some bad eggs (Kenji/Nozomi), but this is what Social Links should be. I prefer having everything voiced anyway. Being legally blind really sucks.

"Reloaded" was originally an idea, but it sounded too focused on the action of a gun, but Reload made more sense because of the device used to summon a persona.

That wasn't written very well. They said "Reload" made more sense than "Remake", because Remake is kinda boring and because of how the Personas are summoned. They considered "Reloaded" but felt that it focused too much on the gun aspect rather than the fact that it's a remaster

The Japanese words for reload and reloaded are just the English words transliterated. They said the "evoker" is shaped like a gun, in which case they used the Japanese word for "gun"

The term used later is literally "gun action", which is the name of the genre for, well, movies and such with heavy gun fighting. Like the Expendables or something. Apparently they think "Reloaded" makes it sound like something from this genre, but Reload doesn't as much for whatever reason. The "action of a gun" was a mistranslation.

I think it's just time to stop buying shitty running exclusive 3rd party games on the Switch period because it almost never lasts.

SMT4/4A/5 ports have been getting leaks for months. The biggest leaks said they were getting announced at the Xbox thing, though. Not sure whether they're coming before or after P3R.

Edit: That doesn't say anything about ports, actually. Might just be SMTV on Switch with all the DLC included.

To be fair, SMT5 ran pretty well for a 3rd party Switch game.

That last main area was rocking a reliable sub 25 frames with hitching between transitions.

I would just recommend not buying Atlus games on release if you don't want to feel burned by the inevitable updated version. They do it for basically every game.

It's probably okay to buy Soul Hackers 2.

Eh, it's kinda true for every dev nowadays. Updates, DLC, ports, remaster, and remakes are inevitable. I dunno if Atlus has been any more guilty of it than other devs (other than the Persona series in particular).

I still feel like that's only for the Persona games. I mean, there's stuff like the Nocture remaster or the Devil Survivor remasters, but those are a generation later, and wouldn't be DLC for most other devs either.
