I'm personally hoping they go for maximum ballsy plays and kill Tifa instead of Aerith at the End of Disc One but honestly so many folks have been speculating the same that it wouldn't actually be that surprising outside of the fact they were willing to actually do it.

Thats whats gonna happen. Theyve all but told us as such since they switched the development teams mid way though the first game, every last interview.

I have beaten the game alot of times before I did the PS5 upgrade. Do you gave to change disks, and if so, where?

Pretty ballsy to believe all that, but even then I believe that shot of Biggs in the ending is in the Zack timeline, personally I think in Zack timeline he's the one who fell from the reactor instead of Cloud, so he was still recuperating since he's a regular guy... Jessie's glove on his beside table because she was also at the reactor and grabbed his hand but couldn't hang on and glove fell with him. Not sure how you could think Jessie could survive in the main timeline since her death felt the most definitive out of the three though I would certainly take her being in Rebirth above any of the others...

Tsung 100% was meant to have died in the original, right?

like Im well aware he didnt cause of the Compilation, but the original script was him straight killed by Seph, right?

Its not like Rufus where he dies but its at the end of the game, and ShinRa is finished at that time, so no reason to know of him again, Tseng bites it in disk 1, and we see the Turks plenty after that, and no one ever casually mentions he survived or is resting.

Yeah. 100% reading that, all the way up to 2002 I would have thought he was dead. Cause Ive never heard the term do you in that didnt mean death/killed.

It wont get multiple games, if thats what you mean. Its hard for me to see really any other game being remade and getting the VII treatment, cause no other open world game that I can think of has a starting location near the scope of Midgar that they would be able to do that too.

Braska's journey would fit into an FFXR type multi part game for sure. That's probably the only chance we have at that becoming a reality.

But honestly if you want the same FFX but updated, the remaster is right there. No need to remaster it every 10 years forever. They should go with a riskier remake like 7R. They have the trust back now.

Yeah but X doesn't have the fundamental structural flaws 7 had where the plot fell off a cliff after the Kalm flashback (or if we're being kindly, after reaching Nibelheim)

That's a lot of the reason a 7 remake was worth it -- a ton of the game's runtime is just aimless roaming without a real cohesive story structure. You have a goal of 'we're chasing Sephiroth', but not a tight plotline that explains how you get from point A to point E and it feels more like a series of vignettes.

(This is also why deviating from what OG 7 was is worth it in turn. There's actually not a lot of meat on those bones once you look past the memorable scenes. Lots and lots and loooooots of dead air)

X very much feels like a story that was told the exact way it was supposed to be told. You could do minor edits and improvements, but it doesn't really need significant changes. I like it less than 7 but it's a much more cohesive product. Same goes for FF9 actually. I feel like if you wanted to update anything, FF6 and FF8 are much better choices, since the former has the World of Ruin sandbox, and the latter just needs to be sewn up a little bit tighter plotwise, with more mandatory scenes to explain Squall's growth since apparently a lot of people missed some of the key side chats that make it all click.

I mostly agree with that (I mean, I tried 7 multiple times and it's literally unplayable without nostalgia imo) but I do think there's a lot in X that is overly simplistic and could use a game design refresh. The narrative design was absolutely flawless and did a lot to hide the game design issues. Especially level design and progression. It's fun to speed through it knowing the exploits, but I feel like it's a bad first time experience for sure.
