Going by the subs I have joined that aren't shutting down and also the front page, once you step away from the lingering posts about u/spez and the protest, it's not too different than reddit but I am seeing a lot less really stupid shit that makes me roll my eyes.

I dunno, it's kinda nice...

if you're subscribed to a subreddit that regularly has stuff that makes you roll your eyes, just unsub now then. same effect on you as the blackout except it's permanent

it isn't really just any one sub. it's really just a lot of "reddit stuff" that builds up when you browse for long periods of time on any given day.

I've never had this problem. Maybe you need to subscribe to better subreddits.

well, i am subscribed to some normie subs like mildlyinteresting because i like the idea well enough. but that does come with some drawbacks like *gestures to DBS's reddit moments thread*

The default subreddits are insufferable. The number one suggestion was always to immediately block them all and subscribe to the communities that produced content that wasn't completely mindless NPC trash.

The new advice now is just to stop going to reddit and instead go on kbin.

I deleted my reddit app again because I kept opening it unconsciously and then going like oh yeah my subs are private now because the app will cease to work anyway in a few weeks.

now I am only posting on Blind, which is a social media app for 30 year old Indian Facebook employees.

Reporting spam accounts doesn't seem to work through the app

You also can't delete your own account through the app nor the mobile site

I stopped being logged in to Reddit a few days before the blackout started. Now I found Lemmy and started using that instead. I had to create forums about stuff like Disgaea, Skuntank, and my favorite animals, though.
