Un Deux Trois God Shattering Star (Rain) Song of Mourning: The Eternal Wind Real good match 1, but I can't vote for FF here unfortunately. =/ Long Tall Eyelash is interesting. Weird and kinda makes some not stellar choices with the melody for me, but interesting nonetheless. God Shattering Star easily takes it for me. Song of Mourning is surprisingly much softer than I would ever expect from PSO2, given what I've encountered in these contests. It's a very nice ballad, I like it quite a lot! ... DEEMO II - Un Deux Trois Fire Emblem: Three Houses - God Shattering Star (Rain) Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis - Song of Mourning: The Eternal Wind MATCH 1 Civilizations has some cool instrumentation to it. I like the folky tune from 0:23-0:44 with the flute and clarinet. The vocals are nice as well. The only thing I take issue with is some of the accidentals like at 1:07. But it's a good song as a whole. Un Deux Trois is such a cutesy, happy song! Just honestly infectious in a good way. I absolutely love this singer's voice. Honestly probably my favorite thing about the song haha. It would be a great song regardless, but I think Natsunaya's vocals in particular really bring the song up a notch. The song flows really well with a well-timed ebb and flow of intensity from softer to louder parts. It took a little bit of time after listening to it during nominations for this song to work its charm on me, but it eventually got there! And now, it's sailed to retiree status in my favorites bracket quite effortlessly (though Song of Mourning was a good round 4 opponent). MATCH 2 I'm usually not the biggest fan of operatic vocals, but I think they work really well in God Shattering Star. The dramatic melody is really strong throughout, with the most memorable part for me being 1:02. Never really could get into most Osamu Sato songs. I do like Tong-Nou Theme, but as for Long Tall Eyelash, this kind of song is something that feels well-crafted for a certain set of tastes that just aren't mine. MATCH 3 Song of Mourning is a really good song! It has the kind of strong instrumentation and harmonization that I've come to enjoy from PSO2 songs. Here, I think the high-pitched string accompaniment is something my brain's focusing on a lot because...I guess I just really like that kind of stuff lol. But really, it's everything in its totality that brings such a rich sound. Something I noticed is that I really like this one particular moment in the melody at 0:49 where the singer says "tortured." I don't know, I think it's something about the note slide in the first syllable that slides into a higher-pitched note. In fact, there's a couple other songs that popped into my mind that have parts like that too: https://youtu.be/ABimFIK56B4?t=106 https://youtu.be/5MhoL2Zy9TY?t=54. I wonder if there's something more in-depth to my reason for liking it than "I think it sounds good" that I'm just not conscious of or can't put into words. Another interesting thing is the ever-so-slight dissonance to the harmonies in the choir and the piano at 3:45-3:54. I wouldn't say it's something I'd ordinarily point out, but it's really interesting here because it doesn't really sound harsh to me at all. Like one of those jazz reharmonization videos where it adds a lot of interesting, unexpected chords, but it doesn't feel like it makes the song sound worse, just different. I really like Wecgas when it leans into the epic choirs like at 0:45, but I think it leans into electronic bass stuff too much for my liking. I think it would be really close otherwise, and it is somewhat close, but Song of Mourning takes the cake here. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Un Deux Trois Long Tall Eyelash Song of Mourning: The Eternal Wind un deux trois made me cry and it's not even the only miyolophone song to do this. i owe a lot to this music and it's helped me keep going a lot recently. really check out miyolophone's work if you didn't already after last year's Into the Woods...it ranges from eclectic to some of the most impactful stuff i've encountered in vgm and music in general. sample, also deemo ii: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdwDkDcd97o good songs all around, but yeah. pretty much no contest for me in all these matches. the arknights track has some really great dubstep rhythms but horita comes in with those harmonies for me as always lol --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdnOym-kbh4 ... Got tired too early last night, so this gets to be a morning post instead. Civilizations: Really cool song. The bass and percussion are the real standouts here. Some really interesting rhythms and the vocals are cool as well. I enjoyed this one a lot. Un Deux Trois: This one's really sweet. Cute vocals and the piano does a lot of work to carry the instrumental. Impressively complex rhythms are used here and the mixing is really well done. It does end sooner than I'd like it to, so that makes the difference in voting for this match, but both songs are fantastic. God-Shattering Star: Here's my favorite song from Three Houses by quite a long shot. Incredible tenor vocals by presumably Takashi Baba, the strings and piano both do a lot of work with the triplet rhythm runs. Everything works together so well to create a memorable final stage theme. The mixing is well done as well, which is pretty difficult for a song as busy as this one. Definitely my favorite song of the day. LONG TALL EYELASH: The percussion samples on this one are pretty interesting, as well as the synths. Pretty cool song, but it's no God-Shattering Star. Song of Mourning: The Eternal Wind: Valeria Rodriguez does a really good job on the vocals here. The chords in the instrumental breaks are very cool, and the overall melody is well-made. A lot of unique composition techniques are used, making this better than the average vocal ballad. Great song. Wecgas fore tham Cynge, Searu fore tham Ethle: This one's extra cool. Interesting combo to mix the heavy synths with the organ and strings like that, but it surprisingly works here. The dubstep elements are my favorite parts (with the highlight of the track being 2:38), which is pretty unsurprising. Another close match, but dubstep wins for me. Actually a really good day. Nothing I didn't like or thought was mediocre.
