Yes No Will you make $1 million in an one-hour period in your lifetime? - Results (41 votes) Yes 7.32% (3 votes) 3 No 92.68% (38 votes) 38 I realize that this question isn't super clear, so here are some guidepost examples: You have a stock portfolio of $10 million, and one morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the market value of your stocks goes up 10%. This counts as you making $1 million in an hour, even if you don't sell any stock. You buy a house for $1 million and sell it after 20 years for $10 million. This does not count unless there was some event in the intervening time that made the value go up by $1 million in a single hour. You win Survivor and its $1 million prize. This counts as you making $1 million in the hour during which the final votes are counted and you win. You receive an inheritance of $5 million. This does not count because inheritances and gifts are not income. Will you make $1 million in an hour in your lifetime?
