I think Try to make the game fairly difficult but if an OP fun strat ends up in the game, let it stay is a fun approach to difficulty, I'm not a fan of unintended player advantages being taken away.

My heart goes out to people who not only bought Elden Ring, but had their magic stomp that shoots ice waves taken away almost immediately.
Duping in the new Zelda looked like the best thing the game had going for it too.

Hey, they put it in the game and I'm using it to make progress. It's my strategy.

Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 were awful for this and also the dumbest as the PC versions had access to the command console.

as a gamer its a bummer losing those strategies

as a game developer you realize its sometimes necessary for the health of the game, since players love optimizing their play, and OP strategies are the obvious goto for that but a lot of the time they're also boring af to do

Devs are in the business of crafting an experience. If they unintentionally put something in their game that they feel detracts from that experience, they're well within their right to correct that.

It is. And Speedrunners are still running laps on V1.0.0 so yes, it should.

Oh we're all familiar with that bit.
What I'm more interested in is how much it does or doesn't bother you when they start messing with the game in later patches.

It annoys the hell out of me. Leave SP builds alone.

this is why i just wait until games are old and patched and on sale

I hate when glithces and exploits are patched out. Unless something is just not working on a fundamental level, (boss script for a certain attack phase never executes, stats arent calculated correctly, etc) then leave the shit alone and let people have their fun. >_>

Lame. Let me play the game how I want to play it. I don't go all OP all the time, but if I want to I should be able to. People who complain about people playing the game wrong are just lame fuddy duddies.

I remember when some players complained about the cell phone that electrocutes people in Hitman 2. It was very overpowered, but it's a single player game.

There was/is a mode where they give you a special target to kill, but it was only available for a short time and if you failed you couldn't replay it until the next time it showed up, which could be months away or even longer. It was the only way to unlock certain suits so using the OP weapon was great. "It's too easy!!!!". Then don't use it. Nobody is forcing you to. They removed it for Hitman 3.

Too much tweaking with strategies does get on my nerves, though I still think it's good to patch various glitches for things like item duplication or infinite money, or egregious flaws in AI logic. For example, games where the enemy will not activate if you are more than a certain distance away, but are spawned in. With the right weapon you can still hit them from further than the reaction distance, so you can just pepper them with arrows until they die and they don't seek you out or take cover.

it can be annoying depending on what it is and in general good glitches and op strategies can be fun and should be left in at least in games that are only single player

Nerf and buff, Rebalance. Fix and update. And do it often.

But also add in a cheat console (and a Story Mode). Possibly even to reverse some patches.

Also put in settings that can amp up the difficulty. (Often forgotten)
