Acting like "It's how you train them" and "blame the owner" aren't 100% valid just exposes your lack of knowledge

You know they're dogs right?

There's no bad dogs. Only bad owners. They learn what you teach them.

Best thing you can do is encourage people to be responsible owners and teach their dogs. Going "Actually it's the dog, owner and training don't matter lul" just garantees more dog attacks and shit owners
No one is saying that "dogs are bad". And no one is suggesting, that owners shouldn't be encouraged to be responsible owners. However, not all dogs share the same genetically predisposed character traits. Undisputable statistical data shows clearly, that pitbulls are much more likely to bite people or other animals and are more often involved in deadly incidents.

Again, no one is saying that all pitbulls are bad. Please keep that in mind.

However, due to the statistical data, the question is: should they really be owned anymore? I mean, there are many other, less dangerous dog breeds available to choose from. Why does it have to be a pitbull, knowing, that they are more likely to bite/kill people or other animals?

If there's one thing I've learned in my 42 years here in America, it's that people are INCREDIBLY stupid, and shouldn't be allowed to own anything potentially dangerous without licensure. People also shouldn't be allowed to reproduce unless they have proper training and again, licensure.

but yeah, pit bulls are a constant problem and need to be restricted. They are on a hair trigger and just randomly attack.

There are 4.5M pitbulls in the US. Pitbulls killed 37 people in 2021. The chances of someone actually being killed by a pitbull are astronomically low.

246 people died from pitbulls within an 11-year period. Within those 11 years, millions and millions and millions of pitbulls have come and gone. Meaning that again, the chances of you actually being attacked by a pitbull are astronomically low.

Therefore, fear mongering. The only thing that is true is if you are unlucky enough to be attacked, it's probably a pitbull.

EDIT: As with any fear mongering, confirmation bias does all the work. Trumpers believe that ANTIFA and BLM kill people and destroy things because they gobble articles where those groups did those things. In reality, the amount of actual crimes is non-existent

This argument reminds me of the one made for sharks. Except in that scenario, it's us entering their home (the water) so it's actually a good argument

Pitbulls attack people walking down the street and shit. We keep them as pets. That's 37 preventable as fuck deaths. Just get a dog that isn't aggressive

What about it? Why would that change the need for training and insurance? Prevention > reaction.
People need the reaction to others in order to inspire the prevention in themselves

So you think this dog, which attacked her after three days of being good dog for her, is ONLY the product of poor ownership? Tf outta here with that horseshit.

I've tried finding numbers for pitbull attacks but, Google is only giving me results for deaths. I found that there are 4.5 million dog bites a year, with 800,000 requiring medical attention but, none of them gave me a percentage of how many of them were by pitbulls. Trying to find sources that aren't biased in favor of pitbulls is difficult too.

4.5 million times 68% is roughly 3 million.
With 1/5 needing medical attention, thats 600,000 people in the hospital from pit bulls assuming the numbers are accurate.

I was seriously taken back at how nonchalant he was about 37 deaths, especially knowing children were in that stat. Like : "Hey, no biggie 37 human lives were just snuffed out...Deal with it." Does remind me of the hardcore 2nd Amendment defenders. One thinks no amount would matter.

When a body of water leaps into my back garden and drowns me, then yes.

If I get hurt swimming, I pay the price for my own amenity. If I get attacked by a pitbull, I am paying for someone else's.

"A new study released in the journal of Applied Animal Behavior Science provides some statistical facts on what breeds actually ARE the most aggressive and the answers may surprise you!The study involved researchers from the University of Pennsylvania as well as 6,000 dog owners. The number one aggressive breed out of the 33 dogs surveyed? The Dachshund. Yes the wiener dog! The study found that one in five dachshunds have bitten or tried to bite strangers, and a similar number have attacked other dogs; one in 12 have snapped at their owners.
Number two on the list is an even more diminutive breed the Chihuahua, while Jack Russells came in third.
The researchers say that the bite statistics that have been released in recent years are skewed because most dog bites are not reported. Big dog bites are more likely to require medical attention, but this does not mean that those breeds are doing the majority of the biting.
One of the teams researchers, Dr. James Serpell, believes that smaller breeds may be more genetically predisposed to aggressive behavior than their larger counterparts. Serpell says, Reported levels of aggression in some cases are concerning, with rates of bites or bite attempts rising as high as 20 per cent toward strangers and 30 per cent toward unfamiliar dogs.
Pit Bulls and Rottweilers scored average or below average in the aggression study. Breeds that scored on the low end are Basset Hounds, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Siberian Huskies and Greyhounds."

In theory if she just kept stabbing the dog anywhere but the body, it would have relaxed it's grip in not a very long time, right?

its blood pressure has to be super high to be in a 'kill this living creature mode' and if it has blood pouring out of even a few stab wounds, it just wouldn't physically be able to keep attacking. thankfully the humans got out unscathed but going for an eye stab was probably pretty risky, i'd just keep stabbing the body repeatedly, or stab in deep and rip and slash it open.

There is a new Pit Bull attack every week. Like, people make topic every time a killer whale attacks one of those boats in The War of the Oceans. But those happen about three times a month.
