Pit bull turns on dogsitting mom who had cared for it 3 days with no issue. She screams for her daughter to get the gun but she comes back with a butcher's knife. Pit bull doesn't stop mauling until it gets stabbed in the eye. The victim has returned home after multiple surgeries.

A dog sitter said she thought she was going to die when a Pit Bull she was watching suddenly attacked her and refused to let go. She thanks her daughter for coming to her rescue.

Blessed. Really blessed to be alive. Thats what Samantha Hesler told Channel 2s Tom Jones just days after she returned home from the hospital where she underwent multiple surgeries.

She was dog-sitting the dog and had taken him for walks at 8 in the morning and 8 in the evening for at least 3 days. She told Channel 2 Action News the dog was always fine.
Then, on the day of the attack, Hesler said she put a leash on him while he was inside his cage and was about to take him for a walk.

He just grabbed. Jumped and grabbed my arm, she described And just started shaking.

Helser said the dog wouldnt let go. His power was starting to overwhelm her. The mother of 3 braced herself against the garage door.

I knew like it was over for me if I fell, she said.

Still, the dog kept on the attack.

And I just started screaming for my daughter to go get my gun, she recalled.

Instead, her 16-year-old daughter ran to the kitchen and returned with a butchers knife.

And I just kept stabbing it, Kanya described. And I just realized this is not doing nothing.

Thats when she stabbed the dog in the eye. It briefly let go of Heslers arm, then Kanya began dragging her mother inside the home. The dog still bit Heslers leg and feet before they got inside.

Okay, fine. I'll admit that the rate is higher than I expected by a large margin. But I've seen good pitbulls too. They can be sweet too.

It's a statistical fact that pit bulls are much more often involved in biting attacks than most other dog breeds. And since they are so strong, they can end up fatally.

No one is saying that each pit bull is "evil", but the facts don't lie. It's a much more dangerous dog breed than any or almost any other dog breed.

It really raises the question whether or not they should be even bred anymore. Many people's or other dog's lifes could have been saved, if people would own less pit bulls and more non-agressive dog breeds.

pitbulls are just an all-around harmful breed of dog that should be banned and every individual dog should be euthanized

no gun owner needs an automatic rifle and no dog owner needs a pitbull

There are 4.5M pitbulls in the US. Pitbulls killed 37 people in 2021. The chances of someone actually being killed by a pitbull are astronomically low.

246 people died from pitbulls within an 11-year period. Within those 11 years, millions and millions and millions of pitbulls have come and gone. Meaning that again, the chances of you actually being attacked by a pitbull are astronomically low.

Therefore, fear mongering. The only thing that is true is if you are unlucky enough to be attacked, it's probably a pitbull.

EDIT: As with any fear mongering, confirmation bias does all the work. Trumpers believe that ANTIFA and BLM kill people and destroy things because they gobble articles where those groups did those things. In reality, the amount of actual crimes is non-existent

Until scientists can determine what triggers their killer instinct, people who are not in the family shouldn't be dog sitting them.

If the pit kills their owner then it's fair game imo.

That number I can't really say. 42,600 people are killed by guns every year in the US alone and guns are what the pitbull whiners compare them to. All I know is that 37 deaths a year is not grounds for exterminating all pitbulls. Just no. Sucks for people who've lost loved ones or pets to pitbulls, truly, but the vast, vast majority of them are innocent.

Sure it isn't. But the fact is as stated above. Pitbulls have killed people but are by and large, not killing people. It's not a great response to tell the majority of people who own innocent and happy pitbulls that they should die or relinquish ownership either. Or that they shouldn't have future ownership.

I've tried finding numbers for pitbull attacks but, Google is only giving me results for deaths. I found that there are 4.5 million dog bites a year, with 800,000 requiring medical attention but, none of them gave me a percentage of how many of them were by pitbulls. Trying to find sources that aren't biased in favor of pitbulls is difficult too.

There's no bad dogs. Only bad owners. They learn what you teach them.

Best thing you can do is encourage people to be responsible owners and teach their dogs. Going "Actually it's the dog, owner and training don't matter lul" just garantees more dog attacks and shit owners
