Oof, that's rough. The cavaliers are generally some of the better characters in the game, especially after promotion when paladins can use all 3 melee weapon types. At least you still have Marcus, whose base stats are good enough that he can pretty much replace your fallen cavalier and not be significantly worse than them in the lategame. You also get one more prepromoted paladin in a few chapters, but she's not as good.

Getting close to the end. Probably beat it tomorrow.

I'm on chapter 27 now, and man, I forgot how good some of the late game pre-promotes are in this game. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've never had one of the early-game axe fighters (Dorcas or Bartre) turn out better than Geitz or Hawkeye when they arrive, nor have I ever had any of the early-game mages (Erk, Serra, Priscilla, or Lucius) turn out better than Pent when he arrives. Canas gets a pass because he's the only dark mage in the game. Raven and Guy more often than not get replaced by Harken or Karel, while Rebecca and Wil usually get replaced by Louise. Rebecca getting blessed stats and turning into a monster for me this playthrough is an anomaly.

For my second playthrough in Hector's story, I'm either going to not use any pre-promotes at all or (aside from the lords and maybe a thief) only use pre-promotes. Not sure which one yet, both of them sound interesting.

Just finished my first playthrough. Aside from the 5 characters you're required to bring to the final battle (the 3 lords, Nils, and Athos) I also brought Kent, Florina, Rebecca, Oswin, Lucius, Canas, and Hawkeye. I did end up giving Vaida's uber spear that I got from the Mine Glitch to Kent for the final chapter, and it helped against some of the more annoying enemies to deal with. Also, during the final battle, I discovered something interesting...

As it turns out, Lyn actually has two different attack animations with boob jiggle in them. She has this one here when landing a critical hit with any normal sword as a Blade Lord, and that one is exclusive to the Japanese release and was censored for the western release. But she also has a second one when landing a non-critical hit while using her legendary weapon Sol Katti (which you only get for the final chapter) as a Blade Lord, and after further research I learned that second one is actually exclusive to the western release. This second animation was supposed to appear in the Japanese release, but didn't appear due to a coding error mistakenly assigning this animation to the animation slot for Lyn wielding Durandal (she could wield Durandal in the game's beta and even had a unique animation for it, but Durandal was changed to Eliwood's exclusive weapon in the final build of the game) instead of correctly assigning it to Lyn wielding Sol Katti. Then, since localizers didn't see this second boob jiggle animation in the Japanese release, they didn't know about it to censor it for the western release, so that animation made it into the western release after that mistake in the code was fixed.

So in other words, both versions got a Lyn boob jiggle, just in different situations.

the worst thing about how the game handles lyn is that one of the most important elements of her character is hidden behind a support with a character 99% of players will not ever use, and it's also written fucking horribly and just continues to rob agency from her as a character
