Since we arent getting MM 2, 3 or MMX 3 remade (thx Capcom) and I dont think Nintendo will ever remake Super Metroid or OoT, I believe that leaves CT, and the 3 mid to late 90s FF games (that arent VII obviously) as the biggest games of our childhood to not get a remake. If SMRPG sells well, can this finally lead to CT a remake?

I feel like Live-A-Live was the test run for this, and as far as I can tell that went well for them

If that's the case, Live-A-Live fans certainly have my thanks for demonstrating that these type of remakes are profitable.

And yeah, I do think CT remake could be on the table if Mario RPG remake sells well.

(And then in a dream world, EVO: Search for Eden remake)

We don't know who is doing SMRPG yet.

What was the last thing Grezzo did? They seem ripe for the job of SMRPG

I doubt it has any impact whatsoever on the possibility of a Chrono Trigger remake

Live-A-Live is a bit different since it was never officially released, so I jumped on it immediately. That said, this is Super Mario RPG. It's going to be hard to resist. First RPG I ever finished, second one I ever played after Dragon Quest (Warrior) 1.

I meant that Live-A-Live was the test run for Chrono Trigger, not for SMRPG.

I honestly can't imagine any Mega Man remake being good. Just keep porting the Anniversary collections, maybe patch some performance issues.

OoT will probably be remade. CT will also probably get a remake. I don't think Mario RPG success has anything to say about it.

A Chrono Trigger remake would probably underperform. The market for old-school 2D JRPGs is largely people who've played them for decades. Chrono Trigger is famous and well-regarded enough in those circles that most of them have played it - multiple times, even - through the SNES, emulation, or the DS port.

Something like Live A Live is actually a better choice for a remake, because it was never released in the west. That makes it new. People are attracted to new.

Plus, CT is so highly-rated that a lot of people would see a remake as pointless unless it went full 3D.

I feel like people liked Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X

yes they were both really good. i recommend any MMX fans try the remake, particularly for the Vile mode which was a really fresh way to replay the game.

Did you forget Mario 64, or did you count the DS version?
