I know it got generally solid review scores, but honestly I think this game is fucking incredible, my favorite Crash Bandicoot game ever and one of my favorite platformers ever. I think those 8/10 review scores were selling it short.

Parts of that game are brutally tough. But yeah, pretty great.

Yeah it's probably the best crash. Very bad completionist stuff but the amount of sheer variety in every single level, I found it remarkable. Very solid platformer.

eh, not enough levels felt "Crash"

Graphically it might have my favorite aesthetics ever in a video game, its all so colorful and fun and such a treat for the eyes. They really go all the way with every level theme. Its so damn vibrant and detailed. Also theres an insane amount of variety and rewarding platforming. I really enjoy the mask abilities and new characters as well. I truly cant ask any more out of a Crash Bandicoot game.

I agree. Though it's a bit strange that a Crash game could be considered underrated. At the time I guess there were other games people were focused on. They did an excellent job with it, I couldn't ask for much more other than a few small things like removing the hidden boxes.

it's about time people start loving crash 4

It's a fantastic game so long as you're not a completionist.

I absolutely adored my time with it, but I can see why the people who can't stand to not get 100% completion/the Platinum Trophy would hate it, haha.

I think it could have been way better if they like, cut every level in half. Some of them just go on too long and the special requirements just become too daunting to actually complete it, which is kind of against the main drawing point of Crash games.

Still a good game, but its a shame that it leans too hard into the things everyone likes about Crash, ironically to its own detriment.

Also very disappointed it was only okay, because what would be even better than a Crash "4" would be a Spyro "4" with the same kind of admiration that Crash 4 had for the series, and we probably aren't ever getting that.
