R1masher posted... There was a scene?Custom mechanical keyboards was a niche and expensive hobby where you build keyboards from kits and have fancy pretty keycaps. Also its not fulfilling. I jumped ship onto gunpla now. in order to get certain keyboards or keycap sets, you have to join something called a group buy where a store takes your pre orders and you wait 1-2 years for the product to be developed. They also I find have a nice feel to them as well, you can get a feel for when they actuate and thus don't have to fully depress a key while typing which helps speed you up.
