Yes, I supported it in the milquetoast social media "I'll give this article a like but I won't actually do anything about it" kind of way.

Yup. They knew it'd fail from a start but worth a try to save the site.

The idea yes but their methods were stupid as hell.
First of all you don't put a start and end date on it.
Secondly you make sure mods are prepared to lose their power if things get too heated.
Spoiler: They weren't so they folded the second they actually got threatened

I still don't actually understand what it was about and whether the consequences matter, beyond the continuing trend of corporations doing whatever the fuck they want, damn the userbase.

Yes, same as I stopped going to Twitter when they unbanned DJT I have stopped going to Reddit

Nope But thats mostly because I didnt have a stake in this race I dont use the third party apps, and just the regular one And it works fine for me All the blackout did was make it harder for me find certain information Some of the places are still closed

Nope. If you protest you shouldnt give an end date before it starts. Also a lot of the mods posted on other subs are even their own while things went dark.

Nah I still used reddit. Just had to lurk elsewhere.

Yeah and I honestly will use reddit a whole lot less as the official app is just bad and unintuitive to me

Looks like it's shifted, before when I ran this poll it was more like 1/3rd supported the Reddit administration, now it's nearly half. I wonder what changed? Reddit propaganda working eh?

I think it coming out that a lot of mods kept posting in the subreddits they closed rubbed people the wrong way.

Because the mods in various subreddits in their continuing protest have made Reddit worse than the "worst case scenario" that they were warning would happen.

The worst case was "You only can use the official app, the moderation is going to be worse so there might be more spam/other things, and it will be less accessible to people with disabilities". The new reality is if you liked e.g. r/pics/ now you only get to see John Oliver pics, if you like /r/thathappened all the content has been deleted, etc. etc.

And that stuff wasn't done by the Reddit admins. As much as people tried to attach "moral" reasoning to the protests, the truth is just that the people who have the biggest problems with the changes aren't enough of a blow to revenue, etc. to threaten to leave, so they have to make everyone else participants in their protests as well.

One of the subs I lurk is in restricted access now so can only see mod posts and posts from 20ish days prior to blackout. The mods are planning to shut the sub down for another week in 4 days. Then re open sub and hold another vote about whether the subreddit should close for another week.

Hell no.

Only the temporary one. The ones who closed their subreddits indefinitely are clowns. Locking away informative posts forever is far more inconveniencing than API greed.
