Lets spice it up. Im gonna give away a mystery game to someone. I recently finished...Persona 5 Royal which was one of the last games my long distance GF Joanne bought for me before she passed on good friday. (last xmas gift). It holds a special place in my heart because...I told her about the persona games (3,4,5) a few months back, and she became fucking obsessed with them going off my description to the point she would buy them all on her switch account. (We game shared using our switch accounts) Hell, she was affectionately calling me "inmate" over the webcam at the height of the fandom. After her passing I attended her funeral in the Netherlands, and asked to have her switch as a keepsake, then was given her account...Sadly, she never finished royal, or golden, but my name was used as her MC for both of them. Priere posted... Lets spice it up. Im gonna give away a mystery game to someone. For me, it'd 100% have to be the Disgaea franchise as a whole. It enabled my older brother and I to become closer during a period where my family was quite fragmented growing up. We all had our fair share of troubles and whilst things seemed fine on the surface, there was a lot of animosity in my household. Despite that, my brother and I began to spend more time together when I caught him playing the original Disgaea. It became a subject of discussion and in-house meme for us at the time, with some of our dialogue being replaced by things from the game. DOOD, DOOOOOOOOOD or DOOD-HA were the three phrases that would essentially wind my parents up after having to put up with us saying it, at numerous volumes, with silly voices and expressions. We'd pretty much greet one another from then on for a while by saying it. We even took it a step further into cringe territory, and had no qualms about saying it when we'd meet up in public. Perhaps not a super interesting story, but the franchise is dear to me purely because it aided in maintaining a good relationship with my brother and also happened to be an amazing game in the process, not just a temporary remedy. Disgaea as a game appealed to both of us because it had fantastic gameplay, endearing art, likeable / goofy characters and it was a joy to see the features improve over the course of the franchise, at least up to D5, I haven't played D6 yet. I missed out on D4 sadly. --- Ryzen 5 5600 | MSI MECH 2 X RX 6600 | 32GB [3200MHz] RAM ... Copied to Clipboard!

I played it back during the PS2 era and I really liked the story in that theres a huge twist at the end I wasnt expecting. Theres not a lot of combat, in fact they are sort of scripted sequences where you fight your way thru to the end to continue- but that didnt bother me. Priere posted... Yes. Any game that struck a chord with you and you love.Mine is pretty simple XD my favorite JRPG is Wild ARMs 2. It was the game that started my love for the JRPG genre. A little bit about the game, it's a turn based JRPG with a heavy wild west aesthetic. So much so that the music even has the iconic western whistling in the music. Another fun thing about the Wild ARMs games (2 in particular) is the large amount of optional content. Wild ARMs 2 has MANY optional bosses, however they require you to get an optional party member and her optional Mic tool. The story is absolutely fantastic, though the localization is....VERY spotty lol. Now as to why I love this game so much, my family didn't really have a lot of money when I was growing up so by the time we got a PS1, the PS2 was already a year old lol. I remember coming home from school that day and seeing my old man setting it up. He told us we could all play it after dinner. We wound up having pizza that day so my sister's and I scarfed our food down quick XD after waiting rather (im)patiently it was finally my turn on the PS1. After going through the small pile of games I landed on Wild ARMs 2. At the time I didn't know what anime was so the art style really got my attention. Booted it up, and was greeted by what is still my favorite gaming intro ever. Sadly I didn't get to play long since I had to get ready for bed for school the next day. Came home from school the following day and I basically had the PS1 all to myself. Booted up Wild ARMs 2, watched the intro again, and finally got into it. The game starts off with having you choose 1 of 3 characters, once you pick one you're off. Now these 3 characters are only the INTRO of the game, once you do all 3 you finally get to the game proper. That moment is when the game truly captivated me. The music, the world map, the turn based battles. EVERYTHING came together to draw me in further. Sadly, at least for the first 2 weeks, I couldn't save the game lol, no memory card. I played those 3 intro sections so many times that I could basically speedrun them lol. Once we got a memory card, I went HARD on Wild ARMs 2. Spent that weekend playing nothing but Wild ARMs 2, so much that I got pretty close to the end of disc 1. Funnily enough, with how quickly I got near the end of disc 1, it still took me about another week to beat the game. I still, to this day, play Wild ARMs 2 at least once a year. Like I said, it's the game that introduced me to my favorite genre of all time. Even if we never get a new Wild ARMs, I'm perfectly content with replaying 2 for the rest of my life. Sorry for the long post lol >~>; --- Wild ARMs is still the best JRPG series in my opinion and we desperately need a new game in the series! ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's always been that flagship franchise for me, where a lot of people have an affinity for say, Final Fantasy or FF7, 9 or 10, for me, it's always been Disgaea. I remember buying the Uncharted 4 PS4 console after selling my Xbox One, and the first thing I did was trade a brand new copy of UC4 for a brand new copy of the Collector's Edition of Disgaea 5 with somebody. He was curious as to why I was willing to make the trade because he thought Disgaea was a niche, obscure title that wasn't worth much, felt weird with me being happy about it when he felt he had the better deal. Made me laugh. When I moved house prior to the pandemic and we had no internet for two weeks due to engineer shortage / issues, what did I resort to playing? I went straight back to D5 and did a fresh save all over again and had an amazing time lol. My wife knows I love the franchise but I couldn't see her getting into it, I've suggested it in the past, believe me lmao. I think the gameplay would be right up her alley. --- Ryzen 5 5600 | MSI MECH 2 X RX 6600 | 32GB [3200MHz] RAM ... Copied to Clipboard!

Priere posted... Lets spice it up. Im gonna give away a mystery game to someone.JRPG In around... 1998ish or so, when I was a kid, I "acquired" a copy of FF6 when that kind of stuff was in its infancy and at the time, to someone whose only RPG before that was Super Mario RPG, it felt like the biggest thing ever When you first see Sabin in a flashback and he has a different sprite and its being built up to meeting him and when you finally meet him in the mountains, it was the most mindblowing thing to a kid. It took me months to finally beat it and it was that game that showed me that games could be more than just simple platformers. I looked up other games on the internet, found out about Pokemon, managed to find Yellow and tried playing it in Japanese before it was even released here. Ever since, jrpgs have become my favorite genre and every time there's a noteworthy one, I make a point to try it out before anything else and its all because my brother showed me FF6 --- http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/9362/davidbowie.jpg David Bowie ... Priere posted... Lets spice it up. Im gonna give away a mystery game to someone. Hmm...It's a toss between Horror and Jrpg for me, but I'll go Jrpg. I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy 1-9. Mainly because of the composer, Nobuo Uematsu. Something about his music just hits different for me. I've seen him in concert twice live, and it was unforgettable! JRPGs in general just seem to always have some sort of gameplay hook or function that just makes them more addictive than western counterpats. Anyway, I'd say my favourite is FF9. This one just hits deep in the feels with the whole Vivi character ark. I remember playing it as a kid and not really liking it because i didn't think anyone looked cool! (I was young sorry haha) then re playing it as an adult, it just hit way, way deeper than I thought it would. Songs like "never alone" and the world map theme give me goosebumps. It's a legendary game and while I enjoy the rest of the FF series after 9, 9 is where the main series truly ended for me. That being said, I've missed out on a ton of jrpgs. Since I got a PC for gaming just a couple of years ago, I've been trying to catch up on some of the classics I missed out on. Recently got into the Y's series and I love how it has real time combat. Great stuff. Anyway, hope that was at least midly entertaining --- https://store.steampowered.com/wishlist/profiles/76561198037443164/#sort=price ... Copied to Clipboard!

Priere posted... Lets spice it up. Im gonna give away a mystery game to someone.Horror for me. Might be a clich pick, but Silent Hill 2 is just special. Most horror games that I played at that point were good with gross enemies and jump scares, but SH2 was super different. It's not even all that scary (I think 3's the scariest), but I find 2 unnerving. It's the atmosphere, music, odd characters who just all seem off. It isn't so much about spooking you as it is making you feel uncomfortable. I really got into it and felt invested in James' journey. Silent Hill 2 spoilers below: That game's just different. I can't think of any other games that have THAT specific off putting tone. It's also how it plays like how you get different endings. I have chosen a winner! This games winner is @probobum ! The prize is a game that is very dear to me, and is one of the best examples of a "love it or hate it" game that i know of. Star Ocean The Last Hope (4k, International, HD, next gen, blah blah blah remaster edition) The characters are very tropey and i can see why people dont like them, but i am a sucker for anime tropes. (also if you like fanservice, this game has it in spades). But the battle system is fantastic and the action gets very intense. It also offers a ton of content that favors doing multiple run throughs (and it only gets better the more you power up).
