My internet connection has been acting weird since a power outage a few days ago. Sometimes I cant connect to the internet at all, and sometimes only some of my devices can connect while others cant. For example, my laptop works fine, but my TV doesnt. Or my Alexa works, but nothing else does. I have never run into this before , where somethings would work and other things wouldn't. It always been an all or nothing thing. I am guessing if anything it is the modem. Since all of the things still read the router just can't connect.

Factory reset the modem. If that doesnt fix it, power outage fried it

even if it wasnt a surge, sudden power loss can damage computers

Or better yet, if you have cable internet and your ISP allows you to bring your own modem, stop using shitty ISP modems and buy a SURFboard modem. This will remove the modem rental fee from your monthly bill and will eventually pay for itself.

Looking in my crystal ball with no actual idea what's going on, I would guess your modem isn't able to give your devices a correct IP adress anymore.

At least that's the first thing I would do and check: If my device gets a correct IP adress for the network, and not some bullshit.
