Essentially, I was prescribed these like 3 months ago, but then the problem I was having ended before I needed to take them. Now a different tooth is having an issue, and its still the weekend + things might be closed. Objectively speaking I know I shouldnt take it, but is it really an untenable risk to take some to see if I can alleviate this issue? Id previously taken some for this exact issue before, just on a different part of my mouth.

I know most of you arent doctors, I just wanna know if Im being an idiot for considering it at all. Wouldnt want to make things worse for myself.

edit: by the way, this wasnt a I took some then stopped when the problem was over, it was that in the time I went to pick them up, the problem had cleared up more than I realized

I wouldn't take it because it's Ototoxic

Depends on if you don't have insurance or a means to talk to a medical professional.

If you can, definitely talk to a doctor/dentist first.

Is there no "best before" or expiration date on it?

"Slightly old" can mean a lot, especially if they are drugs in liquid form.

Theyre capsules, which I believe stay good for longer. Otherwise no expiry date beyond me looking it up and seeing that its generally considered expired after like 2 years.

Indeed. Theoretically it should be enough, Ive been prescribed these before, and since I literally didnt use one at all, it should be. Yet it is certainly possible that it couldve lost enough potency, which then carries the risks youve stated.

if it's not too old the drug will maintain most of its efficacy. if you have enough to take a full course (3 or 4 or however many you are supposed to take per day) until the doctor comes back i would do it, then see the doc and tell him or her what happened.

of course, if it is not working you need to do something sooner
