Are white collar jobs still considered better by Western society?

I prefer white collar, having done blue collar jobs in the past.

Mainly because I don't like to exert myself to exhaustion for a paycheck. Also there's the question of seriously having your body break down over time as you get older because you're physically abusing it for a paycheck daily.

This.
I don't know why the discussion about college is always about the paycheck and "people need a degree to earn a decent salary."
No they fucking don't. Plenty of blue collar jobs like electrician or welder pay really well.
I went to college not to make MORE money, I went b/c I didn't want to work too hard, to destroy my body with decades of heavy physical labor. I wanted a cushy job in air conditioning (and now that it's a thing.... telework eligible). I have no shame in admitting that. I worked hard when I was younger. It fucking sucks, I don't want to do it again. I respect the people who do go that path, our society would crumble within days w/o them doing so.
I wish more people would be honest about this in the college tuition cost "debate". But I guess, "I needed to go to the $40K/year college (ignoring that state and community colleges exist, 'natch) so I could earn a living wage" just sounds better and more defensible than "I went into massive debt for college because I wanted a cushy job".

Having done both, white collar suits me better, though many people claim its more pink collar that I do now.
