I don't think many people are going to understand the Nic Cage cameo fighting the giant spider, but some of us did, it's a nice touch - you got to see the documentary about the cancelled superman movie with nic cage from the 90s to understand it, apparently the movie was going to be insanely bad and the director was obsessed with him fighting a giant spider

The critics are right, BTW, some special effects are **REALLY** bad. Like, high school project bad, but overall I enjoyed the movie. Ezra can be really annoying, he is just the pinnacle of unlikable, but the movie isn't that badly made.
