Absolutely, you can be shitty to people and they have to tolerate it because they cant miss their flight.

I used to work at the Honolulu Intl. Airport. It was ok. It was nice being able to skip the screening lines.

Edit: I worked at a bar

Probably depends on the job.

The commute would be long for me, and the hours would suck for anyone. Those places are open from very early morning to late at night.

I don't know since I never worked for an airport. But I imagine, there are worse jobs. It's probably quite entertaining at times. Stressful, yeah, but also interesting. Depends on the job, of course.

I'm like right in between the two major airports in Chicago. And I don't drive. Neither would be a great commute.

Oh jk. I forgot how far north O'Hare is. Literally twice the commute.

The commute would be fine for me, I only live 15 minutes away

I cant think of any position Id really be interested in having though. Air travel makes people into assholes so I wouldnt want a customer facing role, and I dont have the skills to be an aircraft tech or anything similar

Depends on the job. Working the desk would be a nightmare. Being a plane taxi or baggage handler might not be so bad.

My soon to be brother in law works in air traffic control at MSP and it sounds like a cool job.

Depends on what you're doing. "The ramp" aka tarmac sucks. It's hot/cold/windy and loud. Sometimes they go into the cargo hold. But no people to drive you nuts.

The terminals are generally climate controlled but you get the absolute most insane/nasty behavior from people.

Some people love working at airports though. It's never boring, that's for sure.

Its a stressful experience for most people and some folks react with hostility when under stress. This is just an assumption on my part though.

Isn't ATC considered one of the most stressful jobs on the planet?

Yea it is. He has to get drug tested pretty consistently, he gets probably the best mental/health benefits Ive ever seen. I mean, for that kind of work it makes sense.
