Some sad shit. I worked with people with mental and/or physical disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse etc. Oversaw hab homes, secured funding, wrote service plans, coordinated with state agencies, did intakes/discharges, counseling you name it. Loved it, only job I truly enjoyed and felt good about doing.

Got an offer from Pancheros for a GM position. Pays $20,000 more per year. To roll burritos and run an extremely basic restaurant.

Gee, I can't imagine why the nation is struggling to fill social services roles

Heard. My rationale is if I can listen to people in crisis screaming at me, threatening me, even trying to hit me and keep my cool, I can handle this. I'm not getting into an argument with a customer, they aren't happy with their food I'll remake it. Simple.

Paid Healthcare, 401k with match, tons of PTO, paid phone, free Amazon Prime (weird but I'll take it), free meals, flexible hours. Much much better.

Is she in a similar field and getting burned out or cant take the secondhand trauma any more? Tell her take a break: we can't fully support someone's recovery and mental health if we ourselves are in crisis.

She can always find something different bit stay on as a PRN or part time to fill her heart bucket

No, not that she's mentioned. She actually likes her job, but the critically underpaid part is causing us to be financially unsteady.
