I never played the first I think it was a Switch exclusive initially, but something about it still seemed off putting. But I heard better word about the second and had to try it.

SoI bought it during the Steam sale (would rather had it on my PS4 and the big screen since I like it) but this is my story!!!!!

I can start anywhere and do anything. Canoe straight up your candy ass. (I actually started with Throne btw a week ago or so). Heh.

GOTY so far for me, and I've played the other contenders

any fans of classic final fantasy should really buy it, particularly if they like to complain about FF16 being an action game

This is a really strange thing for me to complain about is that it has random encounters AND they seem awfully high even if I don't sprint on the maps.

I found the Scholar job academy and apparently has a skill that lowered encounters. I only tried it a bit but it didn't seem to do that much. Obviously I can't say much without spoiler blocking a lot of things but it's a solid game overall so far.

I never played the first but there are like "hit start" for some party banter and here's this two player quest.

Most I got so far were between Throne and Tenemos. But I saw some party banter with Caanti. Sorry if I butchered their names are often really odd. I kept making fun of that one knight called Crick in my own little fun way.

I heard the first there was no interaction ever. Like you travel together as strangers who say nothing.

I kind of disagree with this. This is meant to mimic old-school rpg's, and in those games there was a lot of "filling in the blanks" with player imagination when it comes to party makeup. Like in FFVI, one of my favorite parts of that game was imagining discussions the characters I chose to go to Kohlingen would have on the way there. Sounds lame, but I loved it.

Also this game does have more interaction in terms of more "banter scenes" and crossed paths, and a really nice endgame. It just takes a while to get there.

Throne rules. I was b/t her and well pretty much no one else *jokes* I considered Tenemos. I really want to learn more about Caanti. I could check these names for sure but I am getting Ochette now which the only one left is Osvald.

I planned to get him sooner but that's how things go.

I'm glad the IP seems to be doing well. I really love it and it's one of the fresher gaming experiences I've had in the last few years

This game is easily my favorite turn based JRPG since Persona 5. It is amazing how they basically took Octopath Traveler 1 and only made improvements to it. Nothing is revolutionary about the game but everything blends together so well.

This topic isn't why my Ochette progress slowed down, but some of the commands I don't get like I can ambush just random ppl for no reason. Tbf I don't steal candy or toys from kids come on that's heartless.

It's a cool game. I actually want to ask a question about secret jobs or special jobs. I'll spoil drop this just in case. But I found the inventor job pretty much immediately as I started as Throne and I was like holy shit, this is kinda OP. Now I really want to know where these others are. Grrrrr. I still don't have the stuff entirely to get a new skill but the base one is super good.

I typed my post and bounced, but so far I think they did blend this quite well. People say they took the Bravely Default system and improved on it which was gosh so long ago. But then I remember how Bravely Default wasn't even good. I never played it a lot but that 3d stuff was pretty cool.....

I could not prepare my companion. Darn. That other one was so much bigger. I want to dance again maybe or just hunt/explore.

May just get more tipsy on G'faqs that I didn't sleep much last night. I did some respectful amounts last two.

I'll buy that if you could lend me money for a Hamburger next week. I do think this game is better but I never played the first one and only watches a little about it. A irl friend had but I think once I stopped by we played some game on Steam link.

It's a very charming and fun game, I liked it a lot that I got the Collector Edition and the 2023 artbook. Probably going to be my favorite game of 2023 even with Baldur's Gate 3 on the horizon. Anyways build up Hikari and he will pretty much demolish the difficulty of the game.

I like it so far. As I said, started with Thron, but have everyone unlocked. Think I am about chapter 3 with everyone when I last played. I am playing this and FFV pixel remaster. I love old school style rpgs.

I do have Hikari. He's like 20. I over leveled some stuff because the encounter rate is high and I was like I don't run from fights anymore and was wandeting. In a Chapter 2 Throne dungeon I was already over leveled and couldn't figure out how to get the treasure so I just left it and kept running till I got to the boss fight again which I blitzed.

I had a Temenos fight which I was on par with and uhh I forget if I had three or four party members. Probably three and that fight was so hard because adds and oddities of the fight.

I was sweating. Game probs worth 45. Sorta wish like I said had it on my PS4 and my laptop which is a bigger screen, but alas.

I played the first and I liked it at first but I was disappointed about how separate each story felt. Not enough intertwining of stories. The combat kind of got repetitive as well.

Did they address those two things?

I enjoyed the individual stories tbh. Made it where one mediocre story plot couldn't drag the whole game down with it. Also, gave me 8 final bosses.

Then, of course, the real finale was just insane and fun to do. I've even kept my sig true to that game since it came out basically. Just got the 2nd one, so excited to play it.

Gonna lay down. Did not finish Ochette's chapter 1 but I did for Throne and Temones and some others. Great fun.

It has some neat parts. Like others have said as well, I don't like that there's little to no plot involving several characters (no, the side chapters don't count, they're basically Fire Emblem support conversations). Even more though, I'm not a fan of the quest design. It's all "talk to this person, then use current character's day map skill, then their night map skill, then fight a boss" and it feels extremely formulaic.

Some of the quests I have no idea how to figure out. One guy wants money for his son. Do I just bring him the merchant and pay him off. It's not goty but I definitely don't regret buying it. May play more later. Finish off Ochette's 1st chapter and either try some chapter three stuff or bumble around. Stealing is so fun with Throne.

OK I take it back that skill the scholar learns does reduce the encounter rate quite a bit. I wouldn't have over leveled so much if I had that earlier. I don't mind bosses being easier and some content, but I really outpaced some stories because I was exploring.

Also I've liked Agnea so far too. It's amusing how when she gets angry her accent comes back as when she is talking normally she tries to hide it because she wants to become a star.

That Sandlion boss in Castii's chapter. boss In Castii's chapter two could have been a nightmare if I wasn't severely over leveled with my party. Hikari was a bit higher and Agnea was lower but whatever. I think for the most part while I am still a bit over leveled with my main party which became Throne, Tenemos, Castii and (insert here). I ran with Partitio for a bit, then w/e. It's basically been Throne, Tenemos (who I gave a break for Agnea) and Castii the whole way. Hikari is getting some more time now.
