How critical are you?
Do you judge them harsher than if they did a more modest cosplay? Or more leniently since they put more on the line for it?
Do you judge the cosplay itself, or how it looks on their particular bodies?

Not trying to start some white knight/feminist vs incel war, just genuinely curious how people think since it�s a different mindset than in every day life.

Depends on the cosplay.

If it's some <popular character X, but extremly skimpy> I'm definitly harsher. Especially if it's some Instagram shooting with even more sexualised poses.
That's more horny bait or parody than cosplay in my eyes.

If it's something close to the original, I'm perfectly fine with it.

I don't really care. The only times I even come across cosplay are some subreddits for media I like, where I usually just scroll by without thought. Sometimes I'll notice a "skimpy" cosplay with tons of upvotes in whoch case I roll my eyes while scrolling by

Some do some don't. Also the idea of "sexy" changes from person to person. Less clothing may be your idea of sexy but the style of clothing and the over all look may be someone else's idea of sexy. Some women like elaborate costumes with lots of layers and are not being forced to so that ether. Different people will have different tastes and styles and all are valid and should be respected.

There are many good cosplayers out there that got the wrong body type or skin color compared to the source material, but they still make it good.
Same thing with skimpier outfits.
In the end, it is about having fun.

It just killes me when people shit all over sexualized characters saying it's not realistic but yet women time and again prove they are willing to dress like this.

I liked final fantasy 15s way to a degree though I felt it was one sided too much. Most women in the game dressed conservative but then you had cindy.. then areana wasn't too sexualized but she did rock some cleavage.

I don't care as long as the character is recognizable. I've seen a few shoestring cosplays that were basically just a thong + hairstyle / wig and there's no way to tell who the fuck it is unless you read a text description.

Why I said I liked how 15 did it. Some did some didnt.

Hell come to think of it final fantasy has been fairly decent about that. Terra isn't sexualized. Yuna wasn't at first. Fang isn't really or lightning (short skirt is as close as she got originally) celes from 6 Beatrix from 9. (Oddly Kuja a dude was the most sexualized) but usually there would be one

This does not bother me at all. I see a huge difference between creating a fictional character to solely be sexualized and a woman choosing to wear a sexy costume for a short period of time. I will defend anyone's right to wear what ever they want. As far as "realism" again there is a huge difference between walking around a convention in an outfit like that for a couple hours and fighting, traveling long distances and pretty much living in that outfit.

Really I see no contradiction at all.
