or for any of you is it still in the news a lot? It really isn't in the news any more, by me.

In the news a lot? No

Are people still getting it? Yes

That's what happens when we go from pandemic to endemic.

Way less, and the trends are all at their lowest point since 2020. Most people are getting sick with other viruses. Summer heat does mitigate it a lot though so we'll see in winter.

Still get positive tests at work on a daily basis, but only at the rate of everything else out there.

Yeah. It's still happening in every area across the world, but definitely at reduced rates here. Areas seeing any increased spread has been a result of proliferation of the predominant XBB family of variants where it had not previously caught on. Japan for example has seen this happening, while the United States which saw XBB 1.5 rip through like wildfire in January and February has just had a continual decline for months.

Seasonality is going to be an interesting thing to watch because the primary reason 2021 and 2022 had summer waves was because of the introduction of variants with particular virulence or immune escape, Delta and Omicron BA.4/5 respectively. But then the winters were also bad for those years because of the prevalence of new variants with immune escape, original Omicron and XBB/XBB 1.5 respectively. So far the XBB line has continued this year without much noticeable deviation in that regard. Uptake probably won't be great, but there's a booster vaccine coming this autumn tailored to XBB so that should further help as winter comes.

No idea, havent heard anything about it in awhile.

My dad did die a month ago though, and we dont have the coroners report yet. Could have been Covid or alcohol withdrawal, idk. A little scared to call and ask about it.
