Terrible ending

if I was invested in it Id be pissed

i stopped watching when he was up against that short lady

Did they ever even say who the fuck James Spader is

Like he was one guy and then he wasn't and then maybe he was previously a woman but then perhaps not and then I guess they dropped it when the female lead left

i remember watching the first few episodes and just stopping. Man was I surprised it lasted this long.

Spoil it for me, guys. I gave up on season 4, but would like to know just who the fuck Red was supposed to be.

Yes they do. I season 8, they reveal Red is actually Katarina Rostova. He's Elizabeth's mother and a transman.

So the ending was anticlimactic but it does fit the character and the theme they were going for. It was actually foreshadowed a few episodes prior.

Did they actually come out and say it? I've never made it passed season 7, but I've been invested enough to check if it'd been revealed every now and then, and the evidence for Red is Katarina always seemed to be things like "Red gave Liz a letter from Katarina that he said would explain everything" and "when Liz asked if Red knew Katarina he said 'better than anyone'", but considering all the prior false reveals, not to mention the writing quality of later seasons, that doesn't seem especially conclusive.

I never bothered watching it because I thought it would end after 2 years like every show around that time

Yes. They spell it out pretty conclusively.

No, they never do. They tease it, but it is never said outright.
Just got around to seeing the finale, and they just drop another hint about it when Elizabeth's daughter says "you are acting like a mom" and he replies "I guess I can't help it"

This. Got up to season 3 or so on Netflix before giving up. Things were clearly going the everybody is involved in shady shit route with no absolute end in sight so I gave up.

I never watched it, occasionally looked at an episode to see if it was cut-out enough from the plot to be viewable which was hit and miss. I think the key problem they had was when they stretched out the "who is Red and how does he know Liz" plotline so long that Liz's actress got sick of the show and they killed her off before resolving any of it. Edging only matters if you actually finish. Kinda let the steam out of the whole show lol.

I'd listen to James Spader narrate my own conception, but even I had to give up after a few seasons.

I was kind of intrigued by the whole theory that Red was actually Liz's mom but not nearly enough to watch.

I never got past season 1 because of the plot twist near the end. I'm...glad I stopped watching there.

My mom really likes this show, don't know how dedicated she's been to it.

Red is Katarina. It's been confirmed by one of the writers.
