To be insufferable, beef is plant based as cows east grass. Most food is plant based except I guess some sea creatures

Plant-based foods is such a vague term it's almost meaningless.

Presumably what you're trying to say is "plant-based meat substitutes".

I'm assuming you mean vegan stuff. I'm in favor of that. Their fake chicken nuggets are better than regular ones.

That said, vegan pizza is one of the worst things I've ever eaten.

If they're actual plants then yes.

I've tried those plant based substitutes and my tastebuds don't like them.

It depends on the specific examples. A lot of examples have a texture or flavor I don't care for, and a few I did end up liking were taken off the shelves for one reason or another within a couple months of discovering them (which happens with too many things I like). I do like making curry or kung pao with tofu, and my fruit and veggie consumption is well higher than the vast majority of Americans. Then again, there are some fruits and veggies I don't care for (ie., honeydew, dark yellow corn, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, hibiscus, etc.,) and some combinations I don't like (eg., raspberries with chocolate, jack fruit with anything in place of meat, and others).

I dont do meat substitutes. I do like:

Some veggies: Carrots(especially rainbow carrots), green beans, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, potatoes, peas, to name a few Although, I consider corn to be more of a grain.

Fruits: Blueberries, grapes (especially cotton candy grapes), oranges, apples, pineapple, lemons, limes, etc.

generally I use the term plant based to describe recipes that have no animal products, it's basically the same at "vegan" except veganism is more than a diet and is about animal activism and not just cherry picking having a few vegan meals every now and then, and I'm not vegan

anyway, yeah plenty of great plant based recipes and it's better for the environment (even with transport of non local stuff vs local meat, studies show, you can Google it)

meat substitutes are an entirely different thing, it's not necessary to have that with plant based recipes, but I also like beyond burgers anyway and don't get the big deal against them. also like tofu and tempeh especially. or just veggie based meals with rice or potatoes or whatever.

beer is plant based, no one complains about that

I generally don't bother with meat replacements aside from tofu (which I ted to actually pair with meat), but I do periodically have vegetarian meals and even the carnivorous meals I have tend not to have much meat in them (I generally aim to get 6-8 servings out of a pound of meat).

I'm a fan in the sense that I enjoy some, and I believe they'll need to be more prevalent in the future as Earth's resources become more sparse. With that said, I also think the Beyond Sausage sandwich at Dunkin is the best food they've ever had and I was sad when it was removed from their offerings.

I don't like the idea of substitutes. Something that's trying to imitate something else is going to be equal at best and awful at worst. There are vegetarian meals that are good because they are good on their own: just eat those. And probably better for you than whatever they're doing to plants to make them meat-like. And way cheaper.

That's not what vegan means at all. It literally means a diet without animal products.

I've yet to meet a vegan who willingly uses leather products, even, because they're hardwired to be against animal products just in general. They even look for hair products that are "cruelty free," with limited care for the pH or the scent of said products. Dietary vegetarianism alone is, well, being a vegetarian, even if some might call it a "vegan diet."

many vegans disagree including ones I know. many people "go vegan" for like a month or year but that's not veganism.

it also includes vegan makeup, skincare, clothing, and more. and it's rooted in animal rights and beliefs with that

do you understand how a person who chooses to abstain from using animal products in any matter not just what food they eat goes beyond diet and is a lifestyle

"I'm vegan" is generally a description of a broader suite of lifestyle choices than just diet, since it's identifying it as an element of one's personal identity. You should only really assume that they're specifically talking about food if they specify food (e.g. "I tend to eat vegan food," "I eat a plant-based diet," "I avoid eating animal products").
