Too hot (although MN has been spared what much of the country has had)

Too much light (5am and 9pm? Fuck you, sun)

No good festivals or events (whatever to the 4th)

No real decorations

No interesting beer releases (this gets better in August with the rollout of Oktoberfests)

Bring on the Fall!

Agreed. I enjoy the 4th because it's an excuse to go to the parents' cabin on lake superior, but beyond that, agree with everything. The whole point of living up north here is the fact that summer is supposed to be pleasant in exchange for long winter. 90 with humidity is way too hot.

It hasn't been that bad. Only a couple days have been noticeably smoky. We get air quality alerts every few days, but I ran 7.5 miles outside the last time we had one and didn't even notice.

Too Hot...

Yes

Too much light...

I agree. It's one of the reasons I wished they picked the fall DLST, But DLST has always been dumb.

No good Fest/Events...

That I can not agree on. My town is hoping this time of year.
There is so much to do for such a small town. Concerts, A World Class Sports Venue, a Vibrant Downtown, Parks and a Night Life that can compete with any.
((But we pay for it with seemingly never ending winters))

Decorations.

Good. Most of that is just marketing anyway.
The Decorations are the Gardens that people make.
Make a Garden!! It's life affirming.

Beer Releases.

Meh, there's always something.
Or just branch out and get a Vino Verde and add Berries and stuff.
It's a perfect Summer Drink.

The Fall..

Yes, I love the Fall and the colors...I just dread what comes next though.

~Also my Birthday is in July so. There's that.
I do hate the excessive heat and humidity and this year, nonstop rain.
But at heart, I am a Summer Baby.

Winter is mother nature actively trying to kill you.

Where do you live? We have a lot going on here too, but I like the harvest related stuff in the Fall more. Also, I notice I like the increased social activity in summer more when single. Now I don't care.

July is def an early-life month. Matters far more as a Summer Vacation month when you're in grade school After that its just a painful month.

I beg to differ. I love all the sunlight around this time and having daylight as early as 4:30 in morning which I like for going out walking & jogging at the track before the other runners show up.

Agreed. I've never seen such sustained heat for this long. The months of May and June this year being unusually much hotter than I've ever seen since maybe that one super hot week in June 2021 in the Pacific Northwest.

It's been too hot for so long. I've been seeing an infestation of tiny ants come into my apartment room for the past few weeks. I've killed about several hundreds of them so far and they're still coming in daily.

I get that. But I ran at 6:30am today. Early enough since I work from home.

I don't know if you have little kids, but the constant daylight makes them awake too much.

We had this problem with ants, back when I was in high school. We'd spray their entry point and they'd find a new way in the next day. What finally stopped it for us was ant bait. It killed off their whole colony

I live up on the 2nd floor and they were coming into the kitchen sink area the past few weeks. Possibly through small around the wall and window sill. They've slowed down coming from there, but now today I've noticed a whole bunch of them hanging around just inside my apartment door. They must be coming in through the stairwell leading up to my apartment room. I'll have to see if my second floor neighbor is getting ants too.

I'll go down the stairwell and outside sometime later, and see if I can find any colony of ants nearby.

Saratoga Springs, in Upstate New York.
Literally hugging The Adirondacks.
Honestly, it's been a party town for at least 200 years now.
It's where people summered. Their Mansions were called cottages.
~And the beat goes on.

But also, just outside of town we have all of the fall heaviest fest type thing going.
All around. But I would say, out by Schuylerville on your way to The Saratoga Battle Field.

I do love those first days of crisp air though.

Sometimes I think I would love to live in a place like that, but other times I am happy to be in a big metro.

Why?
I love wine but not with anything added. A good dry Rose on a hot summer day though...

I'm only about Three or so Hours from New York City, Boston, and Montral.
It's kind of one of the reasons that battle happened here.
That was about 15 Miles away. That was actually Bemis Heights.

Saratoga Springs would be a complete backwater town if it weren't for the fact that it's been a resort town for about 200 years. And the Horse Racing just sells the deal.

bsp77 posted...

No problem with that!
Though, all Ros should be dry.
If not they added something. Or the Grape saw too much skin time.
Look towards Provence. You can't go wrong there.

Oh, but ya.
The Vino Verda is a light easy drinking wine lower ABV with a slight effervescence.
It's a fun wine. Cool it down, and those fruits, give it a minute to mingle and enjoy.
The Berries give the Chomp factor! It's a great summer treat.
Perfect for a lake or a pool!!

I sleep like a cat, any outside noise can wake me up.
Plus, as they say, the heartbeat mimics the waves of the ocean.

My car shit the bead or I'd probably go to The Mountains this year. I'm sure I'll figure something out.
