KH 3 criticism is largely overstated, I think. Most of the worlds are pretty good. Yes, the writing's terrible and base game is too easy, but...it's KH.

KH3 actually did not do a single thing right.

Especially not gummiship stuff.

Thats because a lot of it comes from people who skipped most of the games for the main numbered games got confused by things. The only bad thing the writing in the game even does it throwing in new questions into the mix that wont be answered until KH4 and beyond.

The Pirates of the Caribbean world was fun I guess.

Being able to explore the worlds wasn't interesting because almost all chest rewards were shit and the collectables on offer like mickey heads and flans were all much worse versions than offerings in KH2FM.

I liked going through a couple of the worlds, mainly Kingdom of Corona and Toy Story, and just surfing around in the Caribbean was a good. I replayed the game about a year ago when I finally got remind and my interest in exploration was non-existent because I knew I was only gonna get shit for it.

Ridiculous notion. I played all the games and listened to all the movie things on all the PS4 collections and KH3 is still confusing and nonsensical to listen to. I guess I should also have played 3 mobile game mmos or something, so it's my fault though. The writing is beyond atrocious. By KH standard.

Sounds like a skill issue at understanding storytelling.

I also really enjoy this Easter egg and fight.

I'll have to disagree about the flans. They were easily more enjoyable than the Mushroom XIII.

Even if thats the case there's multiple games that cover multiple handhelds/systems. You cant blame people for not playing ever auxiliary title. KH has a nonsensical story even if you played all those games.

I mean not really since by the time the 3rd game came out you already had all the playable games and a few games made into more movies added.

And sure you can argue that but it still has a story that is easy to follow even without the stuff happening on the sides.

I dont want to do hours of homework to enjoy a 3rd numbered entry to a game. Thats a stupid thing to expect from people.

Most busy people barely have time to get through one game let alone multiple.

That sounds like a personal problem for playing the third major entry of a game series built around lore without playing others or the fact that it still took the third game quite a while to even come out with the compilation titles being on market.

Kingdom Hearts 3 has best worlds by far and anyone who says otherwise are just in it for the story. 2 is just linear hallways and Dynasty Warriors tier levels where you're just walking to the next fight with some light platforming mixed in. 2>3 tho

KH1 had the best worlds, but 3's were definitely better than 2's.

The gummi ships in general were more fun in 3. The 3d exploration was a fun change.

The story continued DDD's descent into madness and the combat never felt quite as fun as 2's even with more options, but it was okay.

lol yeah its a personal problem i have a social life and don't want to spend my extra time playing multiple entries into a badly written game.

I enjoyed every keyblade being good. I ended up pretty much only using the Kingdom Key, and I love that it was a viable choice throughout the entire game.

Yeah when you make it out to be a personal problem that you played what is basically a finale to a ling running story arc and you got confused by it is that to a key.

Be like if I went into the last Harry Potter Book or Film and being confused as to what the fuck is going on because I didnt bother with the other books or films.

And there goes the trolling. Tell me how is it horrible to call out the complaints about not understanding a plot that has been a decade+ in the making if people skip games that play into the finale?

Kingdom Hearts 3 does get too much hate, there are much worse games in the series than it. *Looks at Re:Coded*

And yet the compilation releases exist so the whole different console argument holds no water (Unless you were unlucky and bought in on Xbox)

And the fact is is still a story contained within a number if games with varied release times and again even when they bundled them together the third major entry was still a ways off from release.

Because its not, and yeah you saying you have a social life while posting on Gamefaqs isnt winning you any medals either there.

One thing it did right was magic, since those -aza spells were pretty sweet and having accessories that let you cast them for free after any combo were pretty fun to use.

When KH3's worlds were allowed to expand the lore of the films they were great. Tangleds world and Frozen's world which were just rehashes were a waste of space.

A lot of people don't have time to get through 1 game if you have an active life, kids, school, etc. Expecting people to play 10 games to understand one is ridiculous is my point.

KH1 came out in 2002. KH2 in 2005. KH3 came out over a decade after those. If you even wanted a refresher on the story to get a cohesive reference by playing the games, its 10+ games you'd have to play. Even if you buy the compilations you still have hours upon hours of games to go through.

KH3 did plenty right. It's a solid entry in the series.

^this. Each world felt well made, fleshed out and had a wealth of secrets and rewards if you came back later in the game with new abilitys. 3 tried to capture much of that magic and it did to a extent but still fell sort. Hell KH1 is still the best game in my opinion.

In addition to the above issues with KH3 I Disliked the new keyboard mechanic's. They seemed cool on paper but ultimately felt overwhelming compared to the simplicity of the drive mechanic's.

That criticism still doesnt work because of how story telling is done in general. Because even with LINEAR story telling in books that can still be argued as taking time to understand the plot of the last chapter in said book. Same applies to movie series, TV shows, and video games.

I will say the only bad thing a out KH3 and its story is it inserts more mysteries then answers into the overall lore in a way that isnt satisfying. A d the only time this is done right is at the prologue and they sort of already spoiled it within the first world.

If you are going to go into the finale of a long running story without playing past games and you are confused by whats happening then yeah thats your fault. Hell the Mobile games really only play a small ass part in the story for KHIII.

If you do the bare minimum Gummi Ship stuff in KH3 its just some boring flying around to get to each new location, a couple forced battles, and the a huge difficulty spike in getting to the final location just because I never had to get used to maneuvering it and its a bit of a maze. Overall just boring busywork with an annoying finish.

However, in my third playthrough of the game I finally took the time to explore everything you can do in Gummi Space and had a really good time with it. Unfortunately I only decided to do this in postgame but it extended that particular playthrough by quite a bit. My next time playing I definitely plan to incorporate it into the whole journey.

I thought the gummi missions in 3 were fine (but more boring than the ones in two), but the giant open world with awful ascending and descending controls really pissed me off, Especially because you kind of have to navigate it for upgrade materials, nevermind doing the big boss thing for the Ultima Weapon Orichalcum.

Yeah, vertical controls were kinda funky. Especially in the last area where you had to squeeze through that maze. They coulda just let you turn up and down freely like you were in space, but I guess navigation might have been confusing then. Still, it's been a while since I played it, but I remember having fun flying around in 3d and exploring. It made me more willing to play around actually building ships, too.
