Nah, I'd rather maintain my steady income instead of getting 100k and then hoping I manage to find a job before it's all gone.

Possibly.

There's a non zero chance my position gets axed sometime next year, and that amount would pay off my mortgage while giving a buffer of a couple years of unemployment with my current lifestyle.

I've considered just outright quitting my job anyway. I'd use that to cushion myself while looking for something else. It's also roughly 3x my current salary.

No, I need to keep making money. Quitting for a lump sum with no plan is not something I'd want to risk.

No, but I wouldnt be working any more overtime or on-calls. And I would be making use of all my sick and personal days every year.

Yes. I'm only at my current job to have a stable paycheck. I've got other options that I'd focus on with more time and money, which the payout would provide.

I'd gladly take a severance package, and $100k is surely more that I would get if I was laid off from my current job.

Fuck no. I work for the state government. Leaving state service now would fuck up my retirement benefits. I would need a lot more than 100k to willingly do that

I mean you're not saying I couldn't work again afterwards. That would certainly float me until I could get sustainable income again...

Definitely. It would be a great opportunity for me to take some time out and apply for something better. Maybe take some courses while working part time.

It would be pretty stupid of me to quit my job for what is about a year of my current salary. 100k is nothing given I actually like my job, and the people I work with.

Even if I get another job, there's no telling its going to be as great as the current one I have.

Now 500k is a good minimum number. Gives me 500k reasons to get over it.

Hmm. Maybe. I make more than that in a year, but last time I was job hunting (earlier this year) it took me about two months to find a job, and I get hit up by recruiters all the time

so worst case scenario I dont work for a few months and then I get a job making $100k+ again

i do like my job a lot though, and the benefits are great. Leaning towards probably not but its not a terrible deal

No. I hate job hunting, my current job is really easy and I get plenty of time off. Payout would have to be significantly higher for me to consider it.
