...So this game is just a Smash Bros clone now? Based on the first half of this video, every original mechanic and anything resembling traditional fighting game mechanics has been Smashified to function more like how all the other Smash clones do it.

Well, that's kind of what people expected the first game to be in the first place, so maybe this is the key to expanding their player base. Just goes to prove that original ideas aren't allowed in modern video games anymore

I wouldn't really call the first game a flop. Nickelodeon was apparently very happy with the sales numbers and even green lit a higher budget sequel.

I made no comment about the level of success of the first game. I was solely commenting about certain aspects being intentionally changed to be more familiar.

Alright, I came on a bit strong because it sounded like you were describing what I see as reasonable changes for the sequel as the lowest common denominator ruining original ideas. And the gameplay changes didn't at all look to me like making NASB into just Smash Bros either.

While speculating for the first game, I had suggested Plankton, but he fights with a mecha instead of directly. Cool to see that idea coming to the second.

Also I assume Arnold's Grandma is the WTF character.

Is CatDog still in the game?

I think they were the most unique concept I've ever seen for a character in a platform fighter.

What was it, a stance that changes which direction they face, and they have different attacks between the two heads? That was cool. I also liked Zim's setups. But many of the characters felt limited, particularly in only having 3 specials, one being a dedicated recovery which for some characters is little more than an extra jump.

They had different attacks per head but you could hold a button (I think that's what it was) to make it so pressing left/right doesn't turn them around like a normal character, so you could mix up which character you're controlling (e.g. you could approach your opponent with Dog but you're actually controlling Cat walking backwards). It was really cool and fairly different than any other "stance" character in a game.
