I genuinely don't understand the appeal of the beach.

People are allowed to be nearly naked in public there

Its like fifteen degrees cooler at the beach than on the mainland. You can go swimming. You get the sound of the waves. Its cheap, and you have room for games and other activities like horseshoes or volleyball. Kids love playing in the sand, and theres people everywhere so its easy to make friends.

I mean, whats not to like?

I hate sand. It's coarse and rough and gets everywhere.

I dont like the summertime cause everyone goes to the beach, I dont understand the beach. The beach, the beach, the beach Lets go to the beach, Oh, I love the summertime, its so worm finally, lets go to the beach, oooooh Whats the fucking deal with the beach, I dont get it. Its where dirt meats water, alright? Is that that fucking amazing to you? Ive got a bathtub and an imagination, Im staying indoors this summer. That way I can listen to music that I like.

Maybe Im just jealous man, everyone at the beach is perfect, you know; tanned, white teeth, Ive got white skin, tanned teeth NOT my environment. You put me under a neon beer light, I look pretty cool You know my problem, Im so pale man, I take my shirt of at the beach, its like a fucking prism man. People are just: Bill, put your shirt back on, we cant find our towels! All these moths are bumping into me

If I were attractive and lived close to a beach I'd probably like it. I'm biased since I live in a coastal state but the beach is only really associated with really trashy people.

I prefer the Gulf coast to the Atlantic coast.

I live at the beach and almost never go. Sand, sun, Salt water, It's fucking awful. The amount of cleanup it takes to leave is enough to write the whole thing off.

Give me the mountains of North Carolina any day... The beach is ok but I'd rather hear a mountain stream than waves.

it's fun but I often feel absolutely exhausted after leaving. Also, having a toddler means we have to carry a ton of shit

Meh. If I'm spending time outside, I'm generally in shade at a park or actively listening to music at a concert/festival. If not, I'm in my air conditioned house.

Most of it, for me.

We recently got back from a vacation at a 9 day music festival. Spent one of the off days walking around parks and to a beach. I could stand all of 10 minutes on the beach before I said fuck that and lay down under a tree at the nearby park to fuck around with my synth while she went swimming.

Enjoy beaches all you want, but to the op's point, not everyone enjoys 'em.

I like watching the waves and hearing them crash, sometimes it's fun to feel it too by standing in the water

A fun way to spend a day is to get a day pass to a resort pool (and other amenities) that includes beach access.

To be honest I do miss going to the beach. I miss doing a lot of things. *ahem* Playing beach volleyball was fun. Plus you can just fall around into the sand and all, it cushions your fall. Obviously I am not much for going far into the water/swimming....but I liked the beach.

The one beach not too far away from me, was fairly sizable (shit it's been so long) but it's not like some fancy rich person's beach last I recall.
