Maybe you live in this fantasy land where the cops show up and save the day. But here in the real world, sometimes people have to take action.

Just look at whats going on in the world, the police dont exactly have the best track record on helping people. You need to understand that and stop relying so heavily on them.

Tracking your car is fine. You should wait a distance and keep a long eye until police arrive. Youre putting yourself in needless danger. If the thief got a good shot off, the owner would be dead right now. What if the owner didnt have a gun and just got himself shot

If you believe he had the right to step in if he caught them stealing his truck, this is no different.

If you believe he didn't have that right, you literally don't deserve to have a say in anything.

He was literally just trying to get his own truck back. He called the police immediately after he had the thief on the ground at gunpoint. At which point the police could have shown up and arrested the thief, had the thief not started shooting.

Its not about responsibility its about placing yourself in a situation that didnt need to go at that level.

Its the same stance that the general public wants on police since 2020. If you have other options, a form of de-escalation, or other resources available, why choose the option thats immediately going to be dangerous and life threatening

that didn't happen as he wasn't charged and no victim would ever be charged under these circumstances. he didn't show up and start shooting, he showed up and detained a dangerous and violent criminal until the guy tried to murder him when he defended himself.

Not sure why anyone is defending the thief, he made mistake after mistake, and that cost him his life. End of story.

The dude just had to wait for the cops to arrive and you know not try and murder anyone and this would have never happened. Instead someone is dead and two people are injured.

that obv didn't happen here. this situation wasn't the guy finding his car a week later. also, receiving stolen property is a felony and if you are borrowing an obv stolen car you are sus and should expect legal repercussions

No, because he didn't start the conflict. The conflict began when the truck was stolen.

"Get the fuck out of my truck" is a proportional response to having a truck stolen. Detaining the thief at gunpoint while waiting for police is proportional response.

Shots weren't fired until the thief shot first. That was the escalation.

It's just not safe to steal people's cars anymore.
