Ok so i doubt many people have gone and seen the standard version vs the imax to compare.

But without spoiling anything, are the visual effects really that great to be worth a 45 minute drive(vs a 5 minute drive) plus extra $5-10 for a ticket plus a likely way more crowded theater?

I know this film was done almost entirely with IMAX cameras so I figured itd be worth it. I watched Halloween 2018 on IMAX and tbh I thought it wasn't worth the extra time/money after I watched it on my TV.

Like if it were Interstellar it would be one thing, but is seeing a few mushroom clouds in IMAX gonna be worth it?

Thanks in advance CE

Edit: my local theater has DLP 4k projectors and dolby sound system. Though the enhanced theater is showing Barbie which sucks because the enhanced AMC cinemark is damn near imax quality. But the standard digital projectors are pretty new/nice.

Save your time and money and see it in the regular one. The best parts of the movie aren't the visuals. I don't think you're missing out.

yeah, i'm really not sure why it's being pushed to imax so hard. there's maybe 1 scene where it'd make a difference.

Goddamn that was a good movie but it sure was slow as fuck.

Honestly I'd probably had retained more information in a 30 minute YouTube video but it wasn't awful. Nolan is kinda known for dragging out movies. I look forward to watching it again at home with captions in 2 or 3 different sittings

tbf some of Nolan's stuff arguably visually impresses more than Avatar.

It was shot almost entirely in 65mm imax. Kinda a hard thing to accomplish. I mean there was some trippy visual and sound effects all through it also. If imax was in my town it woulda been totally worth it.
