What day do you interpret that to mean?

Personally, I've always used "this ____" to mean a day in the current week and "next ____" to mean a day in the following week. But I know not everyone uses it that way, and I do understand the logic using "next Saturday" to mean "the next upcoming Saturday" rather than "Saturday of next week".

If you mean the Saturday coming up, it's This Saturday, otherwise it's the next one.

But I do understand where the mix up comes in. Technically this coming Saturday is the next Saturday to be observed.

"Next Saturday" sounds like 12 days from now, but if I need to know the deets, I'll ask for clarification. Monday is early enough in the week that I could see someone saying that when they actually mean this Saturday.

As I've gotten older I will more often use the day of the week and the exact date (like "Thursday the 10th") which probably seems redundant to some people but it helps avoid misunderstandings so I'll take that tradeoff.
