I don't know if this is just a special theater because it's been years since I've gone regularly but you can order food from your phone and they'll deliver it to you during the movie. Cool at the start but having people walk in front of you and stand there while they pass everything out throughout the 2-3 hours is a bit ridiculous.

Am I just old?

We have theaters like that around here, but the delivery ends 15 minutes after the movie starts, which is much more reasonable I think.

Sounds like the Alamo Drafthouse, I do like food during the movie but overall didn't really like the experience much for a few reasons.

It was a Regal, but I figured it out. They have premium Cinebarre theaters that do this. I guess this was another chain at one point that Regal bought?

Yeah. They weren't Regal until a few years ago. I go to my local Cinebarre and I remember they used to not have a bunch of Regal ads before the movie, they'd just show like some random weird short film instead and it was kinda fun, then it all became Regal and super bland as a result and I was sad.

But yeah that's just Cinebarre, going there to eat food and have drinks is kind of their whole deal. The Cinebarre I go to is always really nice about being as discreet as possible though.

I go to an Emagine theater with heated reclining seats in all the theaters. They've got food that they bring to your seat but I haven't tried it yet because I always go eat at the shopping center next door afterwards.

They have changed in the following ways for me: nearly all theaters are reserved seating now, from what I can tell. Also you have to buy your tickets from concessions if you don't buy them online. There's also normally not a "ticket tearer" anymore.

That makes much more sense. I went to an AMC too and there was no one to scan my ticket I bought online. Both the inside and outside ticket counters were empty, just the concessions line. So I ended up just walking to my seat. Guess I needed to wait in the long line to have it scanned?

I have an Alamo Drafthouse and an Ipic by me

Alamo Drafthouse is by far the superior theater; they train their people to do things stealthier and have a better ordering system with cards

Ipic you have people coming in up to 20 minutes into the movie (allowed by posted theater policy) and they will get in the way of the screen taking orders. Really ruins the openings to a lot of movies if you are unlucky enough to be around someone who showed up late

would prefer to go to Alamo every time but Ipic is closer and more convenient

there's always gonna be room in my heart for a standard AMC theater because sometimes the food and "extras" are just not worth it

Yeah Alamo is usually pretty good about discretion. I don't have one super close so I've only been a couple times while already out of town for unrelated reasons.

I'll have to see if there are any cinebarre near me since I already pay for regal unlimited

I have yet to see one of these bistro theaters, but the concept still sounds weird to me.

They do this for regular theaters now too, and not just the premium ones. I know on the Cinemark app, there's an option to have food delivered to your seat now. I never used it though.

Of course, nothing beats Alamo Drafthouse for that. You see a long movie there and it's perfect. It's hardly ever intrusive. Just a tremendous experience if you're watching a lengthy movie. Their guac dip is the best.

I've never been to an Alamo Drafthouse, although there's one close by and some friends of mine love it.

But I'd rather watch things "free" with A-List, so...
