My uncle had a female one who was very aggressive, yet her son was one of the most placid dogs I've ever seen. He convinced my family that he believed he was human like us. He would allow my cousins to paint his nails and would sit on the couch like a human. When my mom left the family, she gave him away to someone. Like look at post #2 in this topic, first response was "let the current ones live but don't let them breed". There are people in this topic who are arguing to exterminate an entire breed of dog - for all the controversy surrounding pitbulls and dog attacks and shit, preventing them from breeding at all and making sure there are no more pitbulls ever again is kind of a fucking deranged take. It'd be deranged if it was about golden retrievers or calico cats, it's deranged when it's about pitbulls. It is annoying when you have users like darkprince making topics about boogie2988's thanksgiving plate, or people calling Lizzo a landwhale. Both of those people are controversial and have done stupid shit, but the way a handful of obsessed users go on and on is shitty. Tipping arguments are stupid, whether you're riling people up or falling for blatant trolling. Yum or Yuck topics are fine imo, kind of a silly gimmick even if people can get worked up. Pitbull topics, imo, are worse than all of them. I remember a troll on a chatroom I used to go in who said that smokers should be locked in a room to suffocate to death. They're harming others, including unborn babies, they're destroying their own bodies and they're funding a billion-dollar narcotics industry that actively lobbies to make the world a worse place. They're an abject negative slice of the human population, and they should be killed. Clearly that was an exaggerated take intended to be received negatively, but I get the same stink from pitbull topics - they maul children and old people, they maul pregnant women, they almost seem happy when they're mauling! They're evil beings who make the world worse for existing! But it's always the same handful of exaggerated users making the same exaggerated claims, singling out a single breed of dog as something that should be exterminated. Oh no, don't characterise us as people who'd feed pitbull puppies into a furnace with a shovel if given the chance, we just want to prevent any more from being born - as if that isn't fucking deranged on its own. Don't agree with our hardline stance on pitbulls? Oh look at the pibble lover, bet you love your wittle pitties don't you. There's something pathological and deranged about the extremes that CEmen take to talk about destroying an entire breed of dog. Pitbulls have downsides, but the way people coach them as evil and the most aggressive dog breed and the majority of dog maulings in the entire world is going way too far. I agree with TC, mods need to crack down on this shit. At best, it's people taking the most whacked-out takes for the sake of stoking a negative reaction. At worst, it's a group of people arguing to exterminate an entire breed of an animal because somehow it's more inherently evil than the other ones. They're "giddy" when they attack. They murder for fun. There's something really fucking creepy and weird about how those perspectives are framed, and I do think it should be moderated a bit more closely than it is right now. There was a topic earlier today about a pack of dogs mauling someone and it was an innocent topic at first until people started assuming the dogs were pitbulls. The topic turned into how one user doesnt care about another dog that died and was baiting them about it untouched and others saying they wish the breed would be wiped out.
