Went through McDonald's today and the small fries are now more expensive than a cheeseburger, and a regular-ass cheeseburger is up to $2

Remember McDLT? I actually liked that but can't exactly explain why.
The cold stays cold and the hot stays hot.

Jason Alexander explained this a long time ago.

I just miss when there was a real dollar menu.

Prices arent as bad around here as Post#2 but employees also get $7.25
I actually watched a video on that. McDonalds HAD to change it because they kept losing money from those insanely low deals. The current 1/2/3 dollar menu is the best compromise they could make on the value menu idea.

Yet, they're doing that exact thing on the app.
Kinda makes me suspicious.

The app gives discounts on combos, not big macs for a literal dollar. Please understand the difference.

McDonald's makes me sad now.

When I worked at Dollar General in 2011-2012 I would go to the McDonald's across the street for my lunch break on Fridays and my order was:

1 McDouble
1 McChicken
1 Small Fry
1 4-piece McNugget w/ BBQ sauce
1 Medium Chocolate Shake

I got all of that for about $7 after tax.

Now, I just made that same order on the McDonald's app and there's a BOGO for $1 deal on the McDouble/McChicken and even with that the total comes up to $16.44 with tax.

The $1/2/3 menu is a joke too. Here's what mine shows:

McChicken: $2.54
McDouble: $3.99
Small Fry: $3.09
4-Piece McNuggets: $3.29

How the hell are you gonna call it $1/2/3 when the cheapest thing is $2.54

Yeah, the McChicken is still like $1~ around here. I think a mcdouble is 2.30 or something.

I haven't bought a combo meal in years, I have my own soda. If I get a fry at all it's a small.

I do think their new crispy chicken sandwiches are pretty good, especially the spicy one. That sauce is amazing. They're 5 something.

Who goes to McDonalds these days anyway? Their customer service is pitiful in addition to their prices going so high. Filthy dining rooms, grumpy cashiers. My McDonalds has a Kiosk where they expect you to place the order yourself. If you approach the ordering counter they sometimes take your order or sometimes rudely point to the kiosk. Their drive thru is hit or miss, and my order is screwed up more than half the time.

I know people like to hate on Chik-Fil-A but goddamn is their drive thru efficient! I bet McDonalds isn't much cheaper than Chik-Fil-A these days too.

My newest gripe

I was 2 minutes away from a McDonald's

I didnt notice on that tiny little section that for whatever reason it automatically swapped over to a McDonald's 20 minutes away that I've never ordered from

Kinda makes me suspicious.
IIRC, the dollar menus were partially subsidized by corporate, so it was a team effort so to speak.

The app stuff seems to be fully or close to fully subsidized and has limits, and is obviously not as good as the dollar menu.

I would say app stuff is way more necessary nowadays to combat the increased prices due to increased supply costs, higher wages, and just an overall increase in operating costs across the board.
