I think it is disingenuous to say Millions, plural. Canada has less than two million Muslims in total, and it seems doubtful, to me, that most of them will participate in this rally.

Yeah, I dont know anymore. First of all there is this fact that they dont want to accept our way of life and then there is the other major problem. The housing crisis is at an all time high and we want to let 1 million people in every year when we dont even have homes for the people already here.

maybe start making 1 million new homes every year first for fuck sakes. Im tired of seeing homeless people that are homeless because there isnt enough housing, last year me and my family almost went homeless because every single apartment had a bidding war. Its just getting worse and that isnt even counting the fact that current housing isnt even affordable for the average family.

If you look at the UK's Muslim population the kids/second-generation immigrants (and on) are in general much more liberal (in the general sense, not the political sense) than their parents/first-generation immigrants. From my experience the same is happening here.

Maybe Justin Trudeau should look at what countries that are fully Muslim do with their LGBT communities before saying that they were influenced by someone right wing. That's the main talking point of Canadians and ex Muslims. I live with an ex Muslim and they don't agree with his statement.

I say that because I've been on CE long enough to know that people are generally uncomfortable openly criticizing islam.

During pride month the only town in the US that has an entirely Muslim Town council banned pride flags from the entire town and nobody made a topic. Every once in awhile I'll run into a story like that and almost universally there won't be a topic on CE about it. I'm sure the folks who are strong advocates of these causes are seeing these stories too and actively choosing not to post about them. I can only speculate as to why.

I mean the American rightwing is closer. But bad influence is bad influence no matter where it is.

I do find it interesting this guy seemingly has no issues "calling on" the hardliners from other religions to help/support him in his "cause", yet these same people are persecuted across much of the Middle East regardless of their stance on certain subjects.

Believe whatever hateful shit you want in your own time, but schools shouldn't follow the demands of any religion and instead teach factual things.

And LGBT+ people existing is one of those things.

That said, the number of people actually protesting at UK schools weren't significant numbers and doesn't seem like they are here either.
