It is sad. He still make statements that contradict the requirements of his lawsuit. He deserves to have his fucking IP snipped and put on house arrest so he can drown in his disgusting soup of a brain. He shows 0 remorse for emotionally destroying the victims that had their children murdered. He constantly misrepresents an interaction he had with one of the plaintiffs where he claims that she's on his side. When in reality, she offered him some water.

I think that's totally accurate, tbh. I have a close friend with well treated schizophrenia, and I've seen him untreated for many years as well. I also know someone closer to my sister that medicates with various substances and has overdosed numerous times. It's sad in those cases, but not in Alex's....

Booze is only a bit slower - he'll definitely have a heart attack soon. Too bad he's celebrated that for decades, always saying that certain men 'burn out quicker' due to their passion or some BS. He'll become a martyr for the poor schmos he's roped in.

I don't feel bad for him or anyone that's connected with him. Layers upon layers of people allowed him to spread garbage on his show, and his cult of brain dead followers have eaten it up.

The families deserve every penny of the $1B+ settlement. IIRC, one family has had to put up with numerous cases where their 7 year old child's grave has been destroyed and defaced with Alex Jones bullshit along with urinated and defecated on.

I can't even fathom how someone can be both so stupid and evil.

It's absolutely fucked up that they had to lose their children and it would be awful to have to crazy man saying it wasn't real (though later changed to an inside job IIRC), but that is nowhere near $1B. That's just being greedy at that point, and it makes their grief feel disingenuous. At most a fair settlement would have been like $500k, which is still a lot.

I don't think you're familiar with how much money Alex Jones makes, or you don't care. Same with how long, serious and persistent the harassment of these families has been. You also don't seem to be familiar with how much that billion is being divided. Do you know how many families are involved in that case, or are you needing to look it up? Are you truly familiar with this?

Even if their opinion is ridiculous enough to believe that ten years of constant harassment, death threats and attempted murders because some right wing nutjob broadcast unfounded conspiracies on his idiotic radio show that the slaughter of your little boy or girl wasn't real and was a deep state conspiracy to take away guns from Americans is bad, but the penalty should only be enough for each family to pay off their car loan, because anything more than that is "lawsuit greed".

Neither of these should be considered for the actual reparations. It's not about WHO is being sued and how much money they have. It's about WHY. And while what the parents have gone through is, again, absolutely terrible, it's not a billion dollar expense to them. Or as you specified between eight families, a $125M expense. It's also not fair to put the blame on him for braindead fans behavior (not that the specifically expressed such but within the topic) since to my knowledge he has never rallied them to harass these families. Maybe he had antics within the court that were extra condemning from what we already know that could add to it, but I haven't seen or kept up with the trial itself at all, only the general details.

Not at all saying he shouldn't be sued and that the families are owed nothing, just that $1B+ is a quite a bit much. Only reason I even know anything extra about Alex Jones other than his name is because sometimes he says funny things. And to clarify inb4 that gets misconstrued, I mean stuff like "gay frogs" and "destroy the child" and not any of the Sandy Hook stuff. It's also kinda funny watching his face get red (or more red rather) from his dumb screaming.

I mean if I was wrong and he has specifically called people to harass the families you could cite when he did. Like I said it was just to my knowledge of him. If he actually did I have no defense for the whole thing at all since I would have no idea of the scope of it all. But if not my point still stands because like I said it's not the who but the what that matters.

They absolutely should. Damages (especially punitive damages) awarded in court should be proportional to the income of the losing party, because it's supposed to encourage them to not do it again. Especially in the case of punitive damages, it's supposed to be an actual punishment.

If someone can get off of committing a tort (or crime) with what is essentially a fiduciary slap on the wrist, they're just going to keep doing it, because it costs them basically nothing.

Try spending your time whining about a real problem like poor people being required to spend an entire pay check on minor traffic violations and then having their insurance take a hit for the next few years on top of that

You took my bait on suggesting it was 8 families - you're not even familiar with how many died. The profit he made over these years off the memories of these children is more than the amount he is being made to pay out.

When challenged or confronted by Sandy Hook families, Mr. Halbig has released their personal information, taunted them or emailed them photographs of what he claimed were their dead children all grown up.

Mr. Halbig, of Sorrento, Fla., was arrested after a complaint filed by Leonard Pozner, whose son Noah, 6, died in the shooting. The arrest affidavit said that Mr. Halbig repeatedly emailed Mr. Pozners Social Security number, date of birth and other information to a long list of recipients, including multiple different law enforcement agencies and news stations.

Mr. Pozner has tried since 2014 to stop Mr. Halbig from targeting Sandy Hook families and other victims of tragedy. In response, Mr. Halbig posted online a 100-page TransUnion background report on Mr. Pozner, which included his address and delicate personal information. Mr. Pozner lives in hiding.

If you have a show where you repeatedly repeat insane 'theories' based on nothing, and tell people they need to take things into their own hands - YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. The responsibility lies with YOU. You don't get to hide behind your shithead followers when you're the lead shithead.

During the fucking trial he was calling the parents actors. He can burn in hell and his money can go to those families. He said he believed them in the courtroom and then went immediately back to his studio to slander them.

Who deserves $1 billion dollars:

a) The guy who fucked over millions of people to earn it, and directed harassment to the families of school-shooting victims over a decade.

b) The families who now need to live in hiding because Alex influenced millions of his followers to believe in a deep-state operation to disarm them.

He doesn't deserve the money he earned. It should be given to the families whose lives he ruined. Imagine having your child gunned down. Now imagine that you have to relive it every day because you have people contacting you in every way possible in order to tell you that you're a deep-state actor who faked the death of your child.

I didn't really have anything to back up. I was literally asking if you had citing of it because I didn't know. I made no claim you were lying. I was asking because I would retract my whole argument if he did. And no I didn't know how many families I literally said I knew very basic information of the trial. Figured I could trust someone who definitely knew more about the trial. Not like I lied about knowing more, so you can tone it down a bit there. It definitely sounds like the other guy is very liable and that there's room for Alex to be for sure, especially if his urging of people to take action followed his crazy claims on Sandy Hook. Why is it ridiculous to suggest that you're not qualified to discuss this? I appreciate that you readily admit to having no background knowledge on this, but I feel that entails a requisite admission of non-qualification. You don't know, and you can learn. Absolutely. Here's a resource - you can search transcripts of podcasts! I recommend searching "Sandy Hook" in Knoweldge Fight episodes. They've listened to Alex for years, and were heavily involved in the cases. I apologize for being blunt or insulting, I simply feel strongly about this. I respect that you said firsthand that you don't have a lot of information on this. I combed through and provided you some information, but it's a lot of work to parse through dozens of hours of material that I've listened to. Alex has directed his fans to take action. He does it frequently. He will often contradict himself by suggesting that peaceful action should be taken, but that doesn't take away from the majority of times when he calls for 'action'.

You are correct - $1,000,000,000 is a lot of money. When I think of the amount of support these families will need for the rest of their lives, I consider it perhaps barely adequate. I don't think you understand the gravity of having to entirely mask your existence because of tens of thousands of people directing their attention at you. And not just at you - at your dead child. You can never properly move on. You will not be able to exist in a job position in a normal way. If some new dolt finds you out, it can ruin your life again.

Given that a sizable chunk of that money has come specifically from the lies he's told that have caused the families in question this unfathomable hardship, it kind of is. Dude made bank off of making those families suffer. Only seems fair that he, in turn, gives them bank.
