technically, I feel they could be, but there's also the "subjective" feel to account for - like, players might feel it doesn't "feel like" Silent Hill 2 enough, or it "doesn't feel" like Metal Gear Solid 3 enough, and that's enough to affect our environment.

and I believe it's a totally valid way to feel.

with that said, I'm looking forward to both remakes.

I tried several resident evil games, but I never tried silent hill. I heard 1 or 2 or 3 are good? But I wonder if it's very genre specific and not approachable for new people like myself to try out

I think that you should give them a chance, if you don't mind playing older games.

they're more focused on psychological/supernatural horror (depending on which Silent Hill you play), and tell more personal stories than the Resident Evils.

silent hill games generally do not have enough and as good action as resident evil games in my opinion, resident evil is my favorite series in gaming
