iirc there are like 3 or 4 more avatar movies planned. I didn't really like them , cameron has directed many better movies imo. Any of you believe that the 2 avatar movies are 2 of cameron's worst movies?

Fern Gully is better in every way

They're fine movies, but nothing special.

They are both fine, more aimed at being cinematic experiences than films you can just put on and enjoy at any time. 2 is better than 1 imo.

I never saw any of them, actually earlier this year a movie was on a TV I had passed I was thinking "What is this movie??" because it had lot of nice looking CGI but couldn't place it.

Turns out it was Avatar because eventually a blue guy showed up a minute ot two later. I never knew Avatar had...humans in it lol

The only reason Avatar got a sequel (and will get two more) is an attempt to save movie theaters. To remind people post-COVID of an experience they can only get with a big screen.

They are visual masterpieces but don't have any real substance beyond that.

First one was good, second one bored me for like an hour and a half but had a decent first act and third act

Also not great acting

I'd say yes on the whole but I won't watch 3 at the cinema if it's got a runtime over 150m, I think. Fool me once.

yeah i kinda agree, the stories are lackluster. And the special effects aren't like the best ever

Yeah, they're great.

Probably the definition of bland blockbusters for me.

Didn't like the first, second one was fine. Nothing really interesting about them besides the visuals though.

As far as movies they're both pretty mid, but I like the world building. Pandora itself is kind of awesome, and I like escaping to it for a few hours, but I don't care for the main character or his family. I would probably care more if either movie was about Ney'Tiri instead of Jake. Probably. I've come down on her too after The Way of Water to be honest. I think Jake Sully has made her a worse character by association.

Considering the length of the movie, I was kinda surprised at how relatively little focus Ney'Tiri got in the sequel.

Avatar 1 - 7/10
Avatar 2 - 6/10

Neither particularly great. Avatar 2 suffers some from retreading the first movie.

I like them quite a bit, but noticeably more watching it in theaters. Watching it at home is most definitely a worse experience.

I think the action scenes are pretty good, but the James Cameron formula of the 2-hour long slow build up to them is getting extremely old

They're fine. They're more like cinematic events to me. I'm open to watching the third one with a group of friends but no way I'm watching it on my own.

They're big spectacles, but they're not the kind of thing that sticks with me afterwards, or that I find particularly memorable. There are more visually striking movies with far more interesting photography and/or art design that I find more enjoyable to watch on the big screen. The universe never really inspired much in me. Pandora feels so bland to me.

They were worth being made because of how good the Pandora area of Disney World is. By far the best area of any amusement park. The movies were ok.
