Can you play online vs multiplayer. Love the price. Nice to see some pro-consumer behavior for once.

There's crossplay multiplayer, but I can't imagine it would be that fun to play on console vs someone on PC.

It was pretty memorable for me because of how vastly different it is from Q2. In Q2 you're just a silent lone soldier without a clue what to do (at least that's how I remembered it). In Q4 you have fully voiced acted team members. And the stroggification scene... gave me nightmares for a while.

I do like the concept of 1 more. It'd be nice if they made another Quake and it wasn't more Sci-Fi military stuff.

I don't mind sci-fi but Quake 1 was this weird mash up of medieval, goth, horror and Trent Reznor. It would be cool to see that again.

Wasn't that Quake Arena (Quake 3) Relatively popular? I only ever played the 1st to any real extent and just watched some videos know some of the others.

Yeah. I dont think Quake 3 was as good as Unreal Tournament but it was fun.

You know whats stupid is apparently Quake 2 wasn't Quake 2 until the last second? Wtf?

The game literally completely looks like a sequel to 1. But they only called it Quake 2 because they couldn't come up with another name?

And then Quake 3 isn't really another Quake game and yet Quake 4 is. Idiots.

Imagine making Super Mario Bros 2 and saying "This actually wasn't going to be Super Mario Bros at all. We just gave it that name at the last second because we ran out of time. Despite the fact that everything looks like Mario 1 including the enemies and the world design."

Which one are you talking about, the actual Mario 2 AKA Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, or US Mario 2 AKA Doki Doki Panic with a Mario skin on it? Because the latter looks nothing like SMB 1.

If I owned Quake II on Steam before the remaster dropped, did they just replace the old Quake II with the remaster? Can I just download it and be playing the remaster? I don't see anything else listed on Steam.

Tbh it never felt like a sequel to the first game to me. Only thing that's really similar is the color palette

Is it just me or did the regular machine gun get a buff? Seems a bit more powerful to me, but I haven't played in a long while so I could be mistaken.

Quake 3 pretty much started the trend of "arena" style shooters on the PC, like Unreal Tournament. So yeah, it was pretty influential. I also like how the console version had an unused voice for the Doom guy:

Yes, it was updated to include the remaster. However, just like Doom 1 and 2 as well as Quake 1, you also get the option on startup to play the original version of the game that was previously available on Steam (e.g., if you have mods that are incompatible with the remaster, if you have a sourceport you prefer to play the game in, etc.).

I keep getting weird issue in the menu where it keeps moving down almost like drift.

There is waaaaaaaaaaaaay more than just the color palette that makes it feel and look like a Quake game.

the color palette isnt even very similar. quake 2 is very orange and has garish colored lights everywhere because john carmack was obsessed with colored lighting at the time

I'm not really here to split tiny hairs with people. Point is it's OBVIOUS it's a sequel. Very stupid that the name Quake 2 was only tacked on at the last second.

You can argue about colors all day if you want.

Discussing this is as dumb as saying that a Dragonball Z game looks very different and nothing like another DBZ game because of colors while ignoring how much similarities the two games have.... It's ridiculous.

I'm playing it right now and it's pretty fun. Just got the chaingun.
